Hopefully this was his last opportunity to DWI. For 20+ years.

I don’t know about Louisiana law, but the 12 year look-back rule in Iowa relating to OWIs can become pathetic at times. Granted, 12 years is a long time, but there are plenty of folks with numerous priors in Iowa who currently have a first or no offense status simply due to elapsed time. I know a woman whose ex-husband has six of them in his lifetime. And is currently on first offense status. He should have been permanently barred from driving years ago if you ask me.
