Margaret McCaffery on "T’d Up with Connor & Patrick." Talks about Jack, Social Media Criticism of her Sons & More

Interesting take by Marg on loyalty in the current era.
Clearly singling out Miller Kopp transferring from NW to league rival IU.
I am wondering if Fran feels the same about CJ?
Clearly Fran values loyalty to his players and from his players.

It sounds as if she should've fixed Connors shot form before he arrived at Iowa.
It would have been greatly appreciated on Twitter...

She didn't he called a Black MD player an inappropriate name.
He didn’t call the player a name, if I’m remembering correctly, and I think I am.
IIRC, he likened the players protection of the rim to King Kong swatting away the planes in the movie. Not saying he should’ve done it but it was pretty innocuous with what he was truly trying to convey.
Again, that’s if I’m remembering correctly exactly what was said. And I’m not a big Dolph fan but would prefer to keep things factual

He said King Kong in reference to a Black player and deserved to be suspended. Leerfield suspended him nothing to do with the McCaffrey's. Those are your facts.

How in the world did I not know that Sabian Taylor also transfered from Liberty to West?

I didn't make it very far but Jack is totally like Patrick. Both good kids!

You can believe what you want. But the Maishe Dailey comment was not getting him suspended until Momma McNuts went to the powers that be and pushed the envelope.

Facts? Yes I reside in them.
I don’t think “facts” means what you think it does. Just because something is a certain way in your head doesn’t make it so. I’ve checked references and I’m pretty much 100% on. Others can chime in if they agree with my take or disagree but he didn’t call a player King Kong due to race but due to abilities and effective play. Again, I understand the line some drew to get from point A to point B, but I really think his intentions weren’t malicious, just unfortunate in their delivery.

Perception is reality. Yes he intended what you said but it was unacceptable and Leerfield acted accordingly.

interesting that the rubes they discussed on the podcast are out in full force...idiots
roy ellefson=biggest idiot on this site. I don't care who the coach is or coaches wife, when you make millions and your kids play for the University you should never call the fanbase OFFENSIVE & childish names. I would not like it and be pissed off too if it were my kids but there is a tactful and respectful way to respond. She didn't do it. The podcast was not only tacky but offensive for those that follow and contribute to U of I athlectics. It really rubbed me the wrong way. If I were a large contributor I would seriously re-consider.

It’s the internet, made up out of thin air. People yapping like they do in bars. Yet people still get outraged, even though intent can not be discerned.

Obviously all these forums like these podcasts give everyone a place to strike back on their critics, (and yes the idiots as well). The question is, is it wise to do so, or better to just consider the position you're in making those millions and your sons getting a free University education with all the trimmings. I still say the answer is NO. Probably why I don't take part in twitter or facebook or any of those forums. Just don't see the point. Obviously others disagree. As for "Tact", thats just not in the Mac family vocabulary. The offspring come by it honestly, as they clearly got those genes from both sides.......

One it’s common knowledge and been discussed here multiple times fran was livid when dolph gave tix he got from the U close to his family and ended up going to Dolphs friends who were Wisconsin fans and comments they made during the game pissed off margaret. Then the Dailey incident which had happened within last 2 months and fresh in Fran’s mind. Which we’ve seen like with the Woodbury eye poking Fran is loyal to a fault and will back his guys till the end and let it be known which is not a bad thing. But even dakich said after criticizing him he and Fran who’ve been friends had a conversation to clear the air after what he said and are fine now.

Lastly the email sent to leerfield that’s been posted here. One random complaint day or 2 after the game. huge over reaction by Iowa by one measly email and if he wanted to Fran could’ve softened the blow but like with cj transferring unlike nunge he remained silent which spoke volumes. On top of it all so many examples shown where people of late have used the same phrase. Only the ultra sensitive made it to be racial.

A very polarizing clan.

Is a rube someone who thinks Connor sucks or is it someone who thinks that a coach who is .500 in the B1G after 12 years is irreplaceable?
No kidding. Of course when you have one group of people who feel compelled to call players and coaches bums and soft and another group who takes every legitimate criticism as a personal insult to their manhood it's going to appear that way.

Seems questionable to do something like this podcast. As noted, they take to social media to complain about others. Personal attacks should not occur, but, questioning their play or Fran's minutes seems to be fair criticism

wow...coming from a huge idiot I'll take that as a compliment. Thanks for the kind words.

1. Never heard this, and
2. If it's true, Dolph deserved it.

Dolph has put his foot in his mouth numerous times over the years. Most have been overlooked, but the most grievous ones cost him. He had it coming every time.

And FFS, most of you spend a good deal of time making fun of Dolph's gaffes. It's not like he is without issues.
