Marines refuse teen's enlistment because of Confederate flag tatoo

It is the ISIS flag you dolt...
Well, that just goes to show you... it means nothing to me. It's a piece of cloth. Pieces of cloth don't really make me afraid. Well, maybe if the cloth is fairly big, and heavy, and covered in gasoline, and thrown on me, and I'm near a fire.

So what are your views on this shit rag strumming?

I like this version better:

Even if you don't consider it hate speech, it's still the flag of a country that fought against the United States military.

I wonder if any current Marine has the battle flag? Should they be booted as well? Also, I'm curious if any Marine has a tattoo flag of Mexico, UK, Germany, France, Japan, Spain, Italy, etc. We've been at war with a bunch of countries and non-countries. Seems pretty stupid to turn away a volunteer with the way we use our military.

Amen to that! Pretty stupid is being polite. I don't care if he had a tattoo of the US Flag on fire, or a banner saying "F*CK THE USA"... if he wants to be a marine, he'll get vetted at Parris Island.

It doesn't seem stupid to me, the military should be getting smaller.. Not larger or are you a wacky liberal who wants a huge government and crazy spending?!

You don't get smaller by turning away volunteers. We're always going to need privates.

Volunteers get paid... or does a private replace a older more expensive sergeant like in the private sector?

Sort of. When the military was doing RIFs back in the 90s, they were offering people money to retire early, and not accepting some reenlistments, but they were still enlisting recruits.

LOL. Psssst.... the military isn't made up of choir boys. I'm fine with trimming the military budget but this reasoning is beyond stupid.

The link says that was 1977. I wonder if they are still using it today. If so, it makes no sense to me.
Since I'm not paging through every post to see if anyone answered you, here is what they've been wearing since the mid 1980's.

Lol worthy? You have a strange sense of humor. No, the military isn't made up of choir boys, but if it's slimming down, take the best of the best, not the ones who tattoo controversial flags on their bodies.

Can they have controversial words as tattoos? If you were a recruiter and the kid had "Fuk Da Police" on their chest, would you DQ that potential recruit?

Semper Fi. Life has consequences, kid. You can't be faithful to the Confederacy and the USMC at the same time. I do enjoy the isolated pictures from over the years of service members showing a Confederate flag. An individuals actions do not represent an organizational directive, but, keep flailing away.

The word swastika comes from the Sanskrit svastika, which means “good fortune” or “well-being." The motif (a hooked cross) appears to have first been used in Neolithic Eurasia, perhaps representing the movement of the sun through the sky. To this day it is a sacred symbolin Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Odinism.
Yes, but the Nazi symbol is turned clockwise as well as balancing on the tip of the lower "arm." It is easy to see which is the Nazi one.

Were you enjoying the pictures so much that you totally missed the fact that your first statement is made false by the pictures?

Hell, even my 6-year old niece knows that. Counter-clockwise swastika= cool as a pool, Clockwise swastika= hates everyone not white. That's grade 1 stuff.
