Mark Few previews the Iowa game

You have to respect the hell out of what Few has done at Gonzaga. And he has every right to be concerned about his teams conditioning. They only go 6 deep, which is dangerous when you play Iowa this year. The six they do play are solid though. Kispert, Timme and Suggs can play. Suggs is going to be a problem.

Watching his news conference, he's had at least over a week to familiarize himself to the Iowa players....the only real player he focused on in this video is Luka with a small caveat to Joe Wieskamp. He generalized the other players as the rest of the players that surround Luka as really good players. Maybe I'm a little picky and maybe he generalizes all his pregame news conferences like this but at least Fran goes over most of the roster of Iowa's opponents by name and skill set. I'm getting more and more confident that Iowa will take care of business this Saturday. I think Few is extremely concerned about their lack of game preparation and conditioning....great time to pull out the one, three, one zone with Luka, Nunge, Weeze, C.J., Kee Murray, Patrick, Connor. Toussaint, or JBO.

If iowa played in that conference we'd be top 5 too. They play 3 decent non conference teams each year then go hide in their basement for 18 games and come out smelling like a rose.....

There conference is weak and they have no control over that. They stack their non conference schedule though. They have played 3 games. Kansas, Auburn & West Virginia. After they play Iowa, that will be 3 top ten teams in 4 games.

I remember when Hayden used to “poor boy it” and then the Hawks would lay the wood to the opposition......Few is a great coach and I believe that they will be at 100% and plan to blitz us from the opening tip. Hopefully our Hawks are wired tight and ready to perform at a high level.

Pretty sure they just signed up to play VA coming up soon

I agree. He only mentioned Drew Timme, if I remember correctly. He's loaded and he knows he has a great group. We need to be ready for what I believe will be a battle.

You younger guys have no idea of how funny the legendary Ray Meyer was with the insipid questions.

Q. What's the game plan coach? A. Outscore the other guy.
Q. How are you going to do that? A. Make more baskets than they do.
Q. Who's going to get the shots tonight. A. Whoever is making baskets.

Post game.

Q. Great win coach, how'd you do it. A. Scored more points.
Q. How did you hold (X star player) in check. A. Guarded him.
Q. How you feel after a big win like this. A. Tired.
Q. Anything else coach. A. No.

Guy won hundreds of games and coached for about 50 years, from Mikens to Acquirre and was the Calvin Coolidge of college coaches.

All mind games. he has to talk that way he doesn’t want to say anything to Ignite the Hawks . I suspect they will be ready to play Saturday . It’s going to be heck of a game

Few said that his team is out of shape so we got'm

Settles said it best against NIU, C.J. comes up big in the big games, so, glad he's an afterthought so to speak

I understand you're connected to Iowa athletics, but do you have to work at being a dick, or is it part of your DNA? Hope Iowa boat races Gonzaga on Saturday, pay back for 5 years ago.
And to all of Hawkeye Nation "A Very Merry Christmas".

Who says he's connected to iowa athletics? Lol, I find that very hard to believe

Correct. Gonzaga is real. They are very good. If they were in the Big 10 this year, they would be among the favorites or the favorite to win the league. They beat Kansas and West Virginia already. Are playing Iowa. Will play Virginia. Now, it does hurt them from a development standpoint that they then go off to play 18 games against their conference teams which aren't very good while Big 10 and ACC teams are playing better competition for 2 months.

Reading anything into Few's press conference is a fool's errand. He showed a lot of deference to the Iowa team. His laments about the conditioning, maybe. Somehow I doubt Gonzaga will be lethargic and unprepared.

Zags have gone 8 deep and will have 2 missing contributors back on Saturday. True Freshmen Julian Strawther (Rivals #60) and Dom Harris (Rivals #78) have been out since the Kansas game and be available to spell Suggs/Nemhard/Cook/Ayayi from time to time.
