Martial law declared in South Korea. Media put under state control.

The police tried to block them from getting in, but the Assembly met with a quorum and unanimously passed a resolution that should make the declaration legally invalid.

No one seems to know what’s going on. Yoon says he accepted the Assembly’s decision, but the Martial Law Command says he hasn’t revoked the order and that it’s still in effect.

I think it's sort of funny that they seem to have a process for invoking martial law. I know we've got a vague standard around insurrection/rebellion and habeus suspension, but I don't know if there's much more than that.

That’s must be it. It’s not like South Korea hasn’t had 4 other coups in their nations history. It’s only logical to link Trump to Yoon. Makes tons of sense

Yoon did this over a budget disagreement and the doctors strike. His own party doesn’t support it. They haven’t had martial law since Park Chung Hee was assassinated 45 years ago.

SK hoping if they declare martial law, cancel elections, close mosque's and this sounds like, imprison dissidents, kidnap and conscript citizens off the streets and kill their own people the US will send them a couple hundred billion dollars, too.

First thing I thought of was that this was preparing for a possible war due to sending munitions and or troops to help Ukraine. Silly me for thinking the West will do anything significant. And the real risk is to continue to do nothing.
