***Maryland at IU (3:30pm) & Wisc at Purdue (6:30pm) Games Thread*** 4 seed in BTT on the Line

Agree we are in the best possible position under the circumstances for the BTT. I worry more about the first game with IL... Just something about getting that first one.

I can see indy totally screwing my bracket. I don't know if they are a final 4 or 2nd round team. I could see either and as long as Crean is coaching I think 2nd round is more likely.

The conventional wisdom all year was that Indiana wasn't that good and benefited from an easy schedule. I fell into that trap as well. I think their success just goes back to Yogi and is proof of how valuable a point guard can be in the college game.

You might be right but they could also be a little fresher down the stretch given the early coaster schedule in the B1G. I do agree Yogi is a table setter with his dribble penetration but ability to shoot the 3.

The big10 season is a grind, some are harder than others. If you gave Iowa Indiana's conference schedule there is a good chance Iowa would be the champs. I think one of the reasons they are playing so well right now is because they were able to navigate through the conference slate early they have more fresh legs at the end. The toll it takes on your body and mind to play Michigan State twice, Purdue Twice, Michigan twice is much harder than Rutgers twice, Penn State twice, Nebraska twice, Minnesota twice Illinois twice.

Two great posts....imo. Yogi is having a great senior year and really is the catalyst to IU's success. Just such a hard match-up because he is that talented and playing like a senior should will his god given talent.

Totally agree with KFsd here too. The BIG season is a friggin grind.... Iowa's schedule since early Nov. was a friggin grind. I think this Iowa team did/played unbelievably well considering what everyone thought about this team, the talent with the roster preseason. I think this was Fran's best coaching job yet. I've got all the preseason magazines and none of them predicted Iowa to have the kind of season they are having to date. NONE of them.

I respectfully disagree. I think they are just better than us. Maybe not way better, but better. As far as comparing conference schedules, we played each other twice so that's a push. We played Purdue twice and they played Wisconsin twice so that's a push. We both played Maryland once so that's a push. We played MSU twice and they played them once. That's only a one game difference in upper tier opponents and they won 3 more conference games than us.

This game has shown me that if you can straight up outhustle Maryland, you can really frustrate them and get them self destruct a bit.

It could be argued that Maryland is struggling worse than Iowa was (hopefully those Hawk struggles are in the past). They just don't look like a former #2 team [twice ranked there] and haven't for a while.

Not only for revenge purposes, but I just feel like Iowa would have an "easier" time with MD on next Friday afternoon than they would with Purdue [again, in Indianapolis].

That Maryland team is a TO waiting to happen and have been all year. The only game (I think) that they didn't have double digit TO's was the game vs Iowa.

The irony in this post. Let's assume Illinois beats Minnesota but it's not ok to assume Iowa beats Illinois!

Good point but Minny is majorly depleted and ready for the season to end... But to your point, that's why you play the game.

My hesitation is really based on last year's game vs PSU and also because of the way we finished that game with IL a few weeks back.

Its fun to be involved and speculate watching these games, but in the end, they literally do not matter in the end.

Whoever is put in front of them on Thur(-Fri-Sat & Sun), Iowa is going to play very well and advance; or won't play to their potential, and won't advance. Will be a long 3+ day wait until Thursday afternoon, to see what kind of result in the '16 BTT the Hawks will be looking at.

[all that said, very glad MSU is on the other side of the bracket!]

I thought Indiana was the most impressive team we played all year. They have a ton of guys who can really shoot the ball.

I agree and we've seen it in years past, good guard play takes you really far in the tourney, Kemba Walker won it for UCONN a few years back, thats why I really thought if we got Ullis this a National Title contender.
