I dont think he has actually see our games....

"Iowa’s run heavy offense actually plays into the hands of the Terps, because their secondary was absolutely put out to dry against Penn State, being beaten consistently for big plays down the field. That is why it is a good thing that Iowa junior quarterback C.J. Beathard is far from PSU’s Christian Hackenberg in talent."

HAHAHAHAHA

I guess he's just another game manager for the hawkeyes. Smh. I couldn't resist commenting on that article. Guessing the mods won't clear it but oh well.

Hackenberg is a decent QB. Has a few more passing yds than CJ.
2 more TD's than CJ.
1 less int. CJ.
CJ has much better pct. and much more mobile.

The ground attack has worked so well, and Iowa will always go that way when it works. Plus the injury to Tevaun. I think they can put up some crazy passing numbers when need be. We know CJ has the arm.

I've heard Hackenberg's name 500 times and never seen him do anything special

I agree. Ever since he stepped foot on PSU's campus, all he's heard is how great he is from everyone in sports. BTN and ESPN acted like he was the next Peyton Manning.

The kid is a very good QB, but he's never lived up to the hype. Sure he will get drafted by some NFL team, but the kid seems like a head case to me. I blame everyone who hyped him for it.

If you watch him play and on the sideline, he has that "me" mentality. This year there was a redzone TD that he ran in; which is normally fine except that there was a very wide open receiver calling for the ball. Hackenberg looked right at him and ran it in and the receiver just threw his hands up and shook his head.

I get the feeling that this type of thing is typical of Hackenberg. He also has a habit of yelling at teammates on the sideline when he thinks they've made a mistake. I'm actually kind of surprised he hasn't been tuned up by his teammates.

He reminds me of Ryan Leaf, and I'm fairly certain his NFL career while be short lived much like Ryan's.

To be fair, the line his entire time there has been a dumpster fire of epic proportions. I wouldn't lay that on him necessarily. Hard to be effective when you're running for your life on most dropbacks.

Well CJ isn't playing 100% and still has a lot of upside to be seen. Iowa could be scary good by the end of the year.

Three things:

1) CJ has a lot of talent but Hockenburg is going to be a 1st round draft pick. I don't think that's unreasonable statement.

2) This writer and most analysts haven't watched all the games and aren't aware of other factors. Beathard has been playing at 60-85% since early in the season. It's tough to look at statistics and understand how that's impacted his game. Not to mention his mobility, ability to make plays with his feet.

3) This writer has to find some reason to be optimistic about this game.

I don't think we've seen near the best of cj yet. The injury is going to make it much harder for him.

Hackenberg is a stud. Not in love with his attitude, but he is more NFL ready than CJB. But who cares, this is college football.
