As much as we’ve heard how great Campbell is (which I do think he’s a good coach) and the savior of ISU makes it extra sweet to see him drop to 0-3 vs Iowa for multiple reasons. Which are last year being one of their best seasons in forever but still had that blemish with a loss to Iowa, and so much hype for them in forever going into this year and Iowa giving them their first loss. Their fans use to love bashing on ferentz and his record vs them and now .550% and winning 8 of last 11 and their guy hasn’t won now in 3 tries and now the shoe is on the other foot with isu coach having a poor rival record. Best part is all the isu fans posting here and talking so much crap about how great Campbell is and how much better he is over Iowa and ferentz.

All I have to say is Matt you are 0-3 vs “that team to the east.”

The thing that blows my mind is how many Iowa fans seem to live in constant fear that ISU is on the verge of greatness and is going to replace Iowa as the dominant program in the state. They are 164-272 since 1980. They have had "breakout" seasons before only to quickly return to the basement. Their high-water mark was 2002 when they went 23-15. They eventually got rid of that coach because winning 6 or 7 games a year wasn't good enough for them. They always have the next messiah in the wings except he never quite develops.

I’ve never heard an Iowa fan voice his concern for Iowa State becoming a better program than Iowa. I mean, not even once.

2 things

I also have never heard an Iowa fan voice concerns over Iowa St. That sounds like a troll comment.

Also, Campbell is 0-3 and the last two have been with two teams that Iowa State fans think are probably the two best teams in their school history.

I think he is a really good coach and is recruiting his ass off. But that sucks if you are an ISU fan.

I think the fan base is going to start demanding he hire an OC to call the plays following their next loss. Unless they lose with a score of 65-57 in a Big12 “Barn Burner”

Hard to believe that the man many have credited with having the best football savvy of the modern era and coaching in the veritable cradle of college football in Ames, cannot beat crappy ole Iowa with their over the hill coach and their dilapidated stadium.

Iowa St went 23-15 in 2002? Damn, those kids had to be exhausted by the end of that 38 game season.

I'll echo the statement of others in this thread that you are just flat making up the fact that Iowa fans live in fear of ISU taking over this state. They have definitely made strides on their football program, but they really had no way to go but up.

I understand the smack talk ... but the reason why I like Campbell is that he's helped to make ISU somewhat relevant ... and that way it now becomes a quality win for us!

Good points on how crappy that would be for ISU fans. Last year was a historic year for ISU and lost to Iowa at home and finished with the same record and Iowa played a harder schedule and we considered it a very average year. This was supposed to be their best team possibly ever and scored 3 points in a double digit loss to Iowa. Um not really too worried about this becoming a Cyclone State anytime soon.

We shouldn't underestimate ISU's future based on their past. If Campbell stays and continues to recruit well at all positions they could be decent on a yearly basis. This does not however mean it will become a cyclown state. A better ISU hopefully pushes IOWA to improve to keep this a Hawkeye state. Provides a solid early test for us as well.

I have literally seen people on here say ISU is out-recruiting Iowa. They are not. If I was Legend, I would go back and post all the comments on here of how many people thought Iowa would lose yesterday and how good ISU's defense is and how Iowa can't match up with their receivers and on and on and on. I will believe ISU is legit when they string together multiple seasons where they win 8 or more games.
