McNamara

McNamara has a chance to end his career on a positive note. He needs to put his ego aside, grab his lunch pale, and try to help the Hawks win 3 games in a row down the stretch. Doing so will work wonders for his reputation.

Or he understands how college football works in 2024. Yah, I think that might be it.
You guys expect Iowa to be good but don't expect them to treat every single day as the most important day of the season?

No matter what year it is, or what sport it is, there is ALWAYS something to play for. It's very easy to understand

My point being they are just practicing
Some are playing for their future. The possibility of getting an NFL contract. These guys are D1 players for a reason. They're damn good athletes & they take pride in competing and winning. Get it?

I personally don't have any issues with the kid, he came here and has tried as hard as he can. I thank him for that. While he may be cleared to play, he's extremely fragile and he knows it. I feel he's been playing "not to get hurt" in many games and that's why his throws have been off. If he is scared about getting hurt then it makes sense for the coach to play someone else.

I don't know if the coach is not playing him because they're trying to protect him or it's because Statton gives the team the best opportunity to win, or McNamara is still hurt. I don't care which one of those three reasons it is (or some other reason), I'm perfectly fine with the decision the coach makes and it won't change my feelings toward the team or McNamara.

I have an idea for you, just tell yourself that KF is not playing McNamara because he truly wants to win and the other QB gives the team the best opportunity to win.

I'm not sure what he needs to repair with respect to his reputation. He's just a below average QB that's incurred a lot of injuries impacting his abilities. Nothing is going to change any of that for better or worse.

So the VAST majority of college games shouldn’t be played this weekend or next because they aren’t related to a national championship? What is your criteria for when games should be played? Please be specific. Many sports participants and fans outside of fb are equally interested in this approach. Could be applicable to the private sector economy as well so do tell!
Never said that, i specifically said the BOWL games are a joke, if you havent seen that the past few years then that is on you. When the best players opt out and we are stuck watching the 2 and 3 play, its nothing more then practice.

Nothing wrong with extra practice but the bowls have certainly lost somr luster.

You seem proud of your playing days.

What makes you think that Hawkeye players and coaches don't have pride as well?

Amongst several things, pride is one reason there is ALWAYS something to play for
you assumed so theres that. Never said they didnt have pride, thats your own projection. I said the extra practice is what they get out of it, playing against another teams 2 and 3 isnt the same as the 1s. Bowl games have lost some of the luster and thats just facts.

The majority of bowl games are really, as you said, glorified practice games. Look at the attendance at some of these bowl games (not Iowa because Iowa fans have always traveled well).

Poster child for NIL busts
We've had quite a few of those since the Swarm came around. Cade, Brown, Anderson, an OLine that never played.

Jackson and an oline were hits. The jury is still out on Sullivan. Gill was a nice land for this year.

Add the KP fiasco to Cade and Brown and 2 recruiting violations and the Swarm is taking huge Ls.

And you would be wrong ( football - state playoffs all 4yrs and starting OLB Jr/Sr yrs, basketball, track -state in sprint medley, 4x800, and open 800). But get to your point.
So no championships? Not sure why you bothered to play. School pride? Participation trophies? Jingle jock?

😜

If you listen to coaches talk about the bowl game they even say they want the extra practice time. There is definitely positives to having the bowl games and there's nothing wrong with stating what they really are. In the end, the winner is happy they won and the loser is happy they got the extra practice time. It's a win-win.

Take this for what it’s worth but some people I know in Iowa City told me this morning that Cade has basically quit the team. I know thats vague but he has taken his last snap as an Iowa Hawkeye. I am just the messenger.
Benched. Take the NIL and enter portal and try for medical red shirt to squeak out one more year maybe? Would not surprise me but who knows?

Cade could try that but no way is he getting another payday from a FBS program. His play has been too poor (when he’s been out there).

And never did I mention a thing about bowl games

It would surprise me if any D1 team wanted him.
He might as well quit while his body is still functioning…I feel bad for him a little, never really panned out at either Michigan or Iowa. I could see him being a grad assistant somewhere though….

If the Hawkeyes end up 6-6, I don't know how many will want to travel this year.
