McQuitty had said his decision was imminent before attending. Afterwards, he said he was pushing his decision back. He was very excited about his visit and the fact that he lives near the stadium, make this a tough sell for Iowa. Not sure Iowa was his imminent decision before his Missouri visit, anyway.
He will still make some visits, so we can still hold out a little hope.
Colbert indicated it was a nice visit, but his article didn't seem to indicate he would be changing his mind on his choice between Iowa and Nebraska.

Colbert may be getting into McQuitty's head and spirit about Iowa. I believe Colbert and Chester Graves both favor Iowa and Iowa is starting to get second looks for better athletes. Iowa needs to impress unto McQuitty that they are serious about improving their receiving corp and have the QBs in stock and playing time if he come to Iowa. Mizzou is a mess and their football program is going to suffer a major decline in the $EC as Georgia, Tennessee and Florida are the real contenders in their Eastern Divison. Mizzou does not have the resources of the conference leaders of the $EC to contend for a title or go a major bowl.

Landing commitments from McQuitty and Isiah Robertson would definite be a great addition to Iowa's WRs corps.

Eddie Lewis out of New Jersey and a kid out of Michigan last name is White. Both are high on Iowa.

Missouri blows. Why would anyone wanna go to that dumpster fire right now?
Iowa needs to cash in while that program is a mess. Chester Graves would be a HUGE commitment. McQuitty and Colbert would be awesome too

I'd be just as happy with Eddie and/ or Cody White as each could raise Iowa's stature at WR if they truly have the talent. Isaiah Robertson has moved up to top #25 in the 2017 WR rankings and Iowa has been on him a long time. McQuitty is currently #44 where Lewis is currently #72 and White is #74.

I do NOT see Iowa landing top 20 receivers given Iowa's run first approach offensive. Also, getting WRs from non B1G states is really tough sledding, The states producing most of the NFL caliber WRs are the usual suspects: Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, Arizona, California, North Carolina, Michigan and Ohio. Hard to get serious playmaking WRs from their home states to Iowa. Illinois and Missouri are more realistic, IMHO.

I don't believe recruiting tall (6'4"+) WRs works well as they often do not have the speed skills to create seperation from their defenders. Most a the jump ball and short pass possession catch types.Few NFL WRs, especially the top rated ones, are over 6'3". Researched fact. The Calvin Johnson and Randy Moss types have shorter NFL careers, mostly due to collision injury exposure ( leaner frame and longer neck).

Again Iowa needs two top WRs this next recruiting season and maybe Oliver Martin will be offered a preferred walk-on spot as a local IC kid with the shot at a later scholarship.

Good post. I wonder if Manny Rugamba could help us with Robertson, they are from Naperville. Although different schools. When I watch vids on players. I don't see much difference between a Lewis and McQuitty except size. I would take Lewis in a heartbeat. Oliver Martin is starting to get MAC offers. It could be a hard sell to get him to walkon.

Yes, Emmanuel supposedly is friends with Isaiah even if they are at different school, I think they twitter/ follow each other. Isaiah received an early 2015 offer from Iowa as an underclassman so he is definitely on Iowa's radar. Networking can help at least get a foot in the door for Iowa. The state of Illinois is open to those who can take advantage of a weak Illini program and an average Northwestern program and now Michigan is going more West Coast and $EC in its recruiting to bring more speed compete with Bama and tOSU.

I'll take McQuitty over Lewis simply for the Missouri in roads. We've done really well with Missouri kids and I wanna see us cash in with mizzou sucking right now. Chester Graves is an absolutely enormous recruit for this class. I don't think you guys realize. We have AJ but to add a dynamic pass rusher opposite him in Graves would be absolutely huge. We picked up a couple of future studs at defensive tackle in this year's class. If we follow it with 2 top flight defensive ends that would be arguably the most dynamic end prospects we've had under Ferentz out of high school, guys we'd be looking at something truly special.
McQuitty is a talented receiver and would be a great addition but he'd also be one that could help with some of these Missouri kids too. The more we can pull from the tigers up here, the better in my opinion.
As for Robertson, yes please! Hopefully Rugamba can help get him on board.
The other young man I'm curious about and if there's any chance for us is Pryor out of Georgia. I know he's committed to fOSU but his dad was a hawk. He's a 4* and looks like a very talented prospect. I'm sure we're on the outside looking in but man would it be nice to at least get him to look and listen.

Based on the numbers game, Juan Harris may be the only DT in this small class, And Clayberg may be counted as one of the 2017 class of safeties/DBs. Harris scares me as his weight needs to get down to 320. Big guys with too much belly fat have knee problems as well as other medical problems. Probable heart problems in the future. Just saying. I know my knees and back feel better after I dropped 40 lbs got back to 170 a couple of years ago.

I think Pryor is totally committed. Iowa has moved onward.

Martin is going needs to improve his 40 and 20 times he tested out as a junior. His 40 was like a 4.82 (ESPN profile). OM should be down to below 4.6. Expect him to camp at Iowa. He wants to play football for Iowa if he can land a scholarship.

Connor Heyward out of Georgia is interested in Iowa, has said he wants to visit this summer. Could be an option at wr.

We have tackles in the class we just signed. We don't need anymore than Harris in this class. We need ends, and epenesa with graves would be one hell of an athletic pair to bring in, and they play on opposite sides. We'd be looking at potentially or most dynamic defensive line and that's saying something with some of the lines we've had. I hope AJ has the ability to help pull us a few recruits too. I know he helped with Tyler Cook, but I'm talking a few high rated football recruits to join him in the black and gold so we can absolutely take over the West division.

McQuitty said not long ago that NU had a slight lead. But that was pretty much literally the day before Mizzou offered, which he was clearly excited about.

I would be surprised if he ends up at Iowa, personally.

I have heard that Colbert may not have a committable offer from NU at this time. We won't take many DB's this cycle, maybe 2. Personally I think if he wants to come you let him onboard, but it sounds like we'll wait to hear from a couple other guys first. Some on the NU board have said that Colbert will commit to Iowa, but would probably switch if NU gives him the green light.

I don't have any kind of insider knowledge to verify that though.

At one time earlier, I think McQuitty compared Iowa to Missouri. That was before he got his Missouri offer. Heavy lean to Missouri, now. Hawks will need to really pull something off to get him now. Same with Andrew Clair and Chester Graves. Big fight with Missouri over these 3 guys. Unless something big happens, I think they all go to Missouri because of the home state advantage. I think Eddie Lewis is a Rutgers lean after their camp and Cody Lewis just got an offer from Michigan State. He has visited their campus numerous time, so we can cross him off, even though he said he will visit Iowa again. I don't think we get any receiver from our list. I think in the end, Oliver Martin will be one of our WR recruits. I thought his video was good, so that will not bother me.

I think you're giving up on Robertson way too quickly especially since he's friends with Rugamba. I also think you guys are giving Missouri and their joke of a program too much credit right now. Just get those guys to come to our campus and take a look. I think that's the key.
As far as Colbert, if we're only taking 2 defensive backs, I see us waiting on him. There are some absolutely dynamic defensive back recruits on our board including a future star at corner our of Detroit in Ambry Thomas. Would LOVE for this staff to use the success of Desmond King to pull in a kid like Thomas.
I think a lot of this will be swayed by how we do the front half of our schedule next fall. After last season, if we come out and start doing it again winning games and if we take care of business like we should and win the West again, I gotta think some top flight kids will wanna join Epenesa and be a part of the momentum of Iowa football.
This recruiting class is so incredibly important for the future of our program and taking us to the next level, and we need kids like a Chester Graves and a Ambry Thomas and a Isaiah Robertson along with Epenesa to get us there.

Hope you're right, Broth...just going on what I've been reading about some of the recruits. This is a big weekend to keep the Missouri guys on the radar, because I think it comes down to them and Iowa. Would love to see all 3 come to the Hawkeyes!

White is from Walled Lake Western, just got in in-state offer. Will be hard to pull him to Iowa, 30 minutes to Ann Arbor and 60 minutes to Lansing.
