Menards to require customers be masked starting today

I absolutely support their decision to make it mandatory. I won't be shopping there now though.

CYA. The only reason they are doing this is because Menards has been a flash point of conversation about big box stores being allowed open while mom & pops are closed. Menards doesn't want to get shut down. So see, they are doing something to protect the public health, errrr, their covering their butts.

Some people are selfish, the biggest problem with America. They aren’t willing to sacrifice a little to help anyone even though it’s only a very minor inconvenience to them that will not impact them one bit. What are they going to do when all stores require it? Obviously they could do curbside pick up if they don’t like it, but then they’ll still complain about it.

The ones I went this weekend up here in the Twin Cities started this past weekend. Thankfully my wife keeps a couple in her purse. Outside of the store not announcing it to the public, not sure why anyone would be too annoyed about this.

I don't think Americans are selfish. The United States is one of the most generous countries on the planet.

I think it's an issue of trust. Americans have been lied to for decades by their government, since the 1960's at least. So when the government comes out and comments on this current crisis people are distrustful and they push back and are non-compliant. No, this is not a Trump post. Distrust of the government has been going on for decades.

What does the government have to do with Menards, customers and common sense? Don’t listen to Trump and other elected officials, listen to the experts. Better yet comply or find a another place to shop, it is your choice.

All employees who interact with others and customers should be required to wear a mask. It’s criminal that employees are allowed to greet the public without one. Hopefully the trial lawyers teach those companies a lesson.

If you’re not resourceful enough to get/make a mask, why would you need to go into a DIY store? A bandana works.
I have masks so no worries. My point was if there’s a ppe shortage for healthcare workers, why is menards selling them? Shouldn’t they be donating or selling them to hospitals ?

Because people are assholes.
Very true. What was slightly amusing though was that they didn't require masks for people doing returns in the front of the store but to get beyond that area, you needed one. Assume that will change if they have officially announced they are requiring them. We also didn't see anywhere they were selling them for a $1 if you didn't have one..

Good!

home improvement stores have been packed in recent weeks due to people being stuck at home and the good weather.
Hopefully they hire additional, armed, security. Anyone who puts up a fuss is not allowed to enter and gets shot onsite.

Just kidding about the getting shot part.

I already had employees bitching this morning about how they are never going there again because they are being forced to wear a mask. JFC they are asking you to wear a mask not give you a full body cavity search.
It’s a sign of oppression jelly

I imagine these are the same employees who would say a business has the right to run their business the way they wish.

It's not even just distrust of government. It's become a distrust/conspiracy political movement. There's a government aspect in terms of distrusting politicians, but there's also the Deep State portion of the government.

Then there's the media, higher education/universities, science, etc.

We have a society where someone can maintain their own reality. Information that may contradict the reality, can be ignored because of some conspiracy of X, Y or Z.

Oppression? It's a private company acting in the public interest with this rule. You don't have to spend your money there if responsibility gets your panties in a wad.

The people who constantly while about "snowflakes" again show who is the most snowflaky.
My OP was sarcasm

Not sure why you have to go inside now to replace a propane tank. The one thing you could do without any human contact or enter the store they changed. I have found it cheaper to just fill the existing tank at Tractor Supply.
