Menards to require customers be masked starting today

My stepson (no pic) works at a Menards in the QC. He and a lot of his coworkers have been receiving a lot of unpleasantness from customers who are pissed about the policy. I have never understood why people lash out at employees over things anyone with functioning grey matter would no they had no part of. There are just a lot of angry people in the world.

I don't think Americans are selfish. The United States is one of the most generous countries on the planet.

I think it's an issue of trust. Americans have been lied to for decades by their government, since the 1960's at least. So when the government comes out and comments on this current crisis people are distrustful and they push back and are non-compliant. No, this is not a Trump post. Distrust of the government has been going on for decades.

I don't understand. A lack of trust that the coronavirus is deadly, or a lack of trust that masks offer some (better than nothing) protection? I don't see where the need for trust is - both are factual statements.

I was at Menards this weekend and they were enforcing it. They had a huge sign and an employee at the door making sure everyone had a mask on.

Surprisingly I was still able to get in and out without any problems, the mask didn’t effect my ability to shop at all. Crazy.

I already had employees bitching this morning about how they are never going there again because they are being forced to wear a mask. JFC they are asking you to wear a mask not give you a full body cavity search.
Wonder if they are against the "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service" policy also?

I absolutely support their decision to make it mandatory. I won't be shopping there now though.
Your choice. I doubt it hurts their business though. There will be people more inclined to go there now. Especially if their competitors don't.

I haven’t read this thread so Idk if this has been made political, but the people bitching about this to me are die hard Trump supporters.

In the Moline store, the managers are calling police if people refuse to comply. Of course, there is a state order on top of the store policy there. I have zero problem wearing a mask if that is what it takes to let us have sense of normality.

the way it heard it explained it is like wearing underwear and pants. If a naked dude pees on you but you are clothed, you are getting wet. If clothed guy pisses but you are naked, he pisses himself but doesn’t get it on you.

And if you're wearing an N95 raincoat, you're golden.

If the Crown-a-virus don't get you Menards will.....

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – The La Crosse Police Department is conducting a death investigation following a fight in the Menards parking lot. The incident began as a verbal argument and quickly escalated into a physical altercation.

probably fighting over the last bag of deer jerky :D

Wonder if this mask rule is just for larger markets. Had to run to Menards in Mason City this morning and nothing on the signs out front about wearing masks, and several folks inside not wearing them.

Most likely. I hear the virus does not like small towns.

I don't shop Menards I shop Lowe's and Ace only for home stuff. Ace is my preferred but for whatever reason they were closed last Sunday due to "temporary store hour changes". Went to Lowe's and it was packed. I mean PACKED. I've never seen what a black Friday crowd looks like but this had to be it. I'd say about 30-40% of people were wearing masks? Saw a lot of parents with their children there too. But hey.......parks are dangerous and can't be open. (insert eye roll)
