Followed along while at Carver. Damn proud of their fight. Finally saw some players stepping up and being leaders today. I think there is a good nucleus coming back and if they add a tough PG I think this team could be a top 5 team in the league.

Sorry being realistic. The BIG is gonna be tough again next year and while I want to think we can finish higher, I just do not see it with this group. They played their butts off today and fought back. But in the end players make plays and TENN has them. JBO is a great player, but we need another guard that can create/get their own shot.

I appreciate the season. Came in with low expectations and they hooked me with their NYC performance.

Late Feb/early March torturous.

NCAA tournament win was great. Tournament loss was almost an all time win.
I can’t complain about enjoying about 90 percent of the season.

This was a very memorable season with some clutch comebacks with last second shots from JBO & Joe. Got a BTT victory and an NCAA tourney victory. Had it not been for the grueling late season slide this would have been one of the more successful seasons in a long, long time.

Today’s rally was incredible after a poor first half performance that left me thinking ‘how bad is this going to end up’. I never thought we’d ever get it back to even. My only disappointment was that we did not get a last second shot in regulation no matter how unlikely of a shot. Heck of an effort.

Excellent job Fran, coaches & players.

A tip of the ol’ fedora to the 2018-2019 men’s basketball team. Tremendous improvement over last season. Exceeded expectations. Several exciting last second wins.

Really, the only downer was the fade at the end of the regular season. But...they won a game in the BTT. They made the NCAA and upset their first round opponent in practically a home game for them (Cincy). Gave #2 seed all they could handle....making a monumental comeback only to fall short in overtime. Nothing to be ashamed of.

As far as I’m concerned, the season was a success.

Was so awesome being excited for an NCAA game again.
Hopefully that toughness will carry over into next year, and some improvement.
But with Fran at the helm, who knows what will happen.

It was a success and should give us all some optimism for next season. I hope this team takes this loss today and learns from it. Put some extra work in during the off season and it could be a truly special season next year.

Overall, outside of the 6 game slump when they played some bad basketball, it has been a very fun season. Thanks hawks!!!

Effort, passion, never-say-die attitude, great group of young men. There is no shortcut back to the top for Iowa basketball. The formula is incremental progress leading to landing bigger fish and better results.

I've liked every Iowa basketball team since catching Hawkeye fever during the magical 1980 final four run as an eight year old. But this team was especially enjoyable to watch and root for.

I am 100% behind Coach Fran but understand others feel differently. It's ok to disagree but one thing we really should all agree on is that these players deserve our thanks and support for all of the work they put in representing us.

We will get that regular season BIG title, we will get back to the Final Four. I believe and today's incredible display of heart only made me more certain.

Thanks for such an exciting season and quality young men to root for!

In the second half, Fran kept Tennessee guessing with a three-two, two-three, and diamond - and I saw mouths moving. To play good zone you have to TALK. Our defense got us back in the game, and kept us in the game.

I might add Iowa was second in scoring average this year in the Big Ten, so not sure how we keep regurgitating the argument our lack of talent at the guard position is why we cannot succeed?

This is the most sad I have been at the end of a basketball season since the last sweet 16. This is the most heart I have seen since that team. I am sad for the players but at the same time so damn proud of them. Hopefully this can carry into next season and we can see that heart for 40 minutes every game. Is it November yet????

Nobody is questioning Bohannon's toughness. The overreaction threads to people who think they are some sort of super fan get old. Bohannon plays his butt off but his shooting prowess is negated when teams smother him. He needs someone to get him the open looks we give up to other teams.

Secondly I don't see this team having the type of leadership necessary to take the next step. See Winston at MSU for what this looks like. Iowa does not have "that guy". Bohannon has the killer instinct to do it but as mentioned above needs a facilitator to load him up. Cook has the desire as well but his game is too erratic + bad free throw shooter. Wieskamp is the only guy I see on the roster with the skill set + mentality to be this guy next year.

This just isn't true. The 2015-16 team With Woodbury, Uthoff, Gesell, and Clemons, etc, was a good defensive team. Our defense improved a lot this year and should continue to improve.

From 290 to 150 is a big improvement. But the next closest Big Ten team was in the 60-70’s?? So we are still way below the Rest of the Big Ten. Have to make it a priority to get to top 8 in the league in defense. If we can get there, we will have a good year.

We’ve seen bad defense at Iowa the last 3 years. 3 of the 4 years(the “bad” year was 77th)prior to that we were right around 30th in defensive efficiency.

I will second all of this. To be so outmatched athletically and come back from 21 down at the half to force OT is almost unreal. We can very easily be even better next year!

Soo I see a trend here. Fran when we had Woody our defense was pretty good. Since he left we have down right struggled. We average around 200 team ranking. Not exactly defensive juggernaut.

It’s off the NCAA rankings website. Are real numbers too difficult for you to comprehend. Oh you want to use adjusted rankings to help you feel better. Eye test alone should tell you we are horrible at defense.
