Check out @Kaevon02’s Tweet:

I have often wondered how big of a deal this is for the guys but if DJ and KM represent the whole team it doesnt seem like a big deal.

Not even sure if Merriweather is on campus yet. Alot of the Swarm18 signees will show up on campus on or around the 9th of June. If thats the case I don;t think he's restricted in regards to social media just yet. I've seen some others including DJ Johnson tweeting recently as well.

It doesnt show it in the tweet I put in but KM was responding to DJ saying "hit me up on Instagram I wont have Twitter at Iowa" and KM said "I low key forgot about no twitter"

I’m sure he can truly relate to a black teenager.
I'm a white dude - and I'm able to establish excellent rapport with students of all different ethnicities in my physics and engineering classes. While some folks "open up more" if there is the vibe of a shared experience ... between most folks there are more similarities than differences if you're willing to look for them.

Do you teach your class via social media, and in particular via twitter?

Let’s not defend what that jackhole tweeted to one of our recruits. I guarantee you he has zero in common with DJ...outside of the Hawkeyes.

I don't think that the guy's comment necessarily earns him the label of "jackhole." The point being that young people DO tend to use social media too much as an outlet to life ... however, they're cheating themselves of a lot of productive personal interaction AND they're potentially mischaracterizing themselves along the way too.

Too many social media platforms can illustrate somebody's snap-judgement on an issue - and that isn't always the best thing to do. Particularly if the topic requires thoughtful deliberation.

As Kirk's gentle reminder was to ISM ... through the literal media ... these young men really do have better things to do!

Respectfully Homer, I don’t think a random guy on the interweb who has no clue how hard DJ has worked to get to where he is should be lecturing him about getting to work.
