Quinn Ewers reportedly has a $4M deal on the table from a B1G team to transfer next season & forgo the NFL Draft

because this isn't real news....anyone that believes this is legit is laughable.
this story is factually a crock of shit posted by some random twitter feed.
it's moreso the timing of the post, the dollar amount, and the sketchy ass twitter feed it is coming from. Were this after the playoffs, someone said he was offered a 7 figure contract, I wouldn't be surprised, but a specific dollar amount, right before the playoff, that is just click bait.

A crock of shit, huh? A random twitter feed, huh?

Well, here are just a few of the followers of the Twitter account that posted this news:

Adam Schefter (ESPN Senior NFL Insider)
Kirk Herbstreit
Matt Randazzo (former sports director at WQAD)
Kyle Guy (shooting guard for national Champion Virginia)
Maurice Goodson (Tyler's dad)
Jim Souhan (Minneapolis Star Tribune columnist)

Bro, it's ok. I've fallen for click bait titles as well. If you want more ammo, one of the Iowa beat writers reposted it as well. It doesn't make it true. This specific dollar amount of a mid-level QB? Good lord if someone is offering 4 million for next year I would probably target one of the qbs in the top 25 for passing or efficiency.

LMFAO

Well, of course Ewers' agent is gonna blast the "rumors;" this wasn't supposed to get leaked & now it is a big distraction.

Thanks for finding a random tweet from SouthEndZoneQueen

Do you follow her on Twitter? Is she a reliable source?
Bro that was reported by Anwar Robinson, are you that ****ing dense you can't just admit you were wrong.? Your click bait titles are a bane to this board, why not post shit that matters to Iowa fans? Stick to the portal and recruiting news.

Nope. FCS schools that develop a diamond in the rough lose them to FBS because the players chase the money.

College football is becoming more of a TV sport. It’s great to sit on coach and see the super teams play. Not so great if you actually are a fan of the other teams.

Fast forward a decade. Be interesting to see fan interest for the bulk of teams that will never sniff the playoffs and bowl games become an over glorified spring game.
Even better. Having a lack of prima donnas at the FCS level is one of the things that makes it great. Send 'em up to FBS where they can deal with 'em, and replace 'em with more likeable players.

Are you having your period or something? Good grief; get a freakin' grip.

The NIL/pay to play issue doesn't matter to Iowa fans? You couldn't be more wrong.

And why don't you admit that you were wrong
when you said it was some random twitter feed when it wasn't?

you are discussing Quinn ewers getting 4 million dollars. There is not a single QB that will get this from Iowa, Iowa will not offer a qb 4 million dollars. Oh and best yet, it is fake ass news. As has been provided by both Ewers' agent and the Texas beat writer. Quit taking the click bait and move on.

Wasn’t there initially a rule with the transfer portal that you could only switch schools once, and would lose a year of eligibility for each transfer thereafter? Ewers already transferred once (Ohio State to Texas). Nebraska just had a criminal by the name of Arik Gilbert enter the portal; he’s already been at LSU, Georgia, and Duhbraska. It’s ridiculous.

My personal interest in collegiate sports at the D1 level is very rapidly losing its appeal, including Iowa. One big money grab and zero loyalty and/or the collegiate spirit.

a player should not be able to enter the transfer portal annually; retaining players has become more & more difficult

for now i’m still entertained but no question something unique and good has been lost.

Funny how it was ok for adults at universities and the NCAA to be greedy on the backs of all these kids for decades but now a young man (who is risking severe injury) can set himself up for the future and everyone wants to complain. Being a QB at a division 1 school is HARD physically, mentally, and emotionally. Not to mention all the fans that want to bad mouth you any time you screw up.

I mean, we KNEW this was going to be a shitshow before it started but I don't think anybody predicted it was going to be like this. Blue bloods buying players openly.
Can the NCAA disqualify a guy for not having proper grades any more?

My guess would be Oregon or USC. Ewers started at Ohio State and they have a slew of five stars without the injury history. Michigan has a ten million dollar true freshman coming in with Underwood. Nebraska has Raiola. Iowa now has Hank Brown!!!

Only other program might be Penn State. Franklin hasn't been able to develop a QB to save his life. Might as well just get one that Sarkasian and Day already have. Maybe he's polished enough already.

Don't know but T Boone Pickens obviously did not at Oklahoma State. I would have thought he would have done something like that for them.
I don’t believe NIL was a thing then. He was a major benefactor to Oklahoma State and late in his life, in his giving he challenged and encouraged others to do so as well. It resulted in their largest campaign. Source: a family member is also a benefactor for the Pokes.

Nowadays, I would have no doubt wealthy benefactors are spreading their giving between the foundations and collectives.

I wonder what Oregon's NIL budget was this year.

Ohio State's was $20M

According to the link ^ , it is twenty three million dollars. I think the NIL has to be public knowledge. But I've heard different numbers from different sites. Some say Texas has the highest at twenty five million, Ewers getting five million for this year. Ohio State is often listed either one or two, the twenty million is accurate on all the sources I've seen.

This was an interesting one from your link. As you said, every source seems to have different numbers for all of these things and I’m not sure how much I trust any of the numbers.

Jestin Jacobs: $281K

Thank you for this.

This is why the Ewers' report, where a $4M offer is reportedly on the table, is believable. Tom Kakert posted this reporting on this Twitter timeline, as well.

$5M: what Ewers is getting this year
$4M: what Ewers is reportedly being offered for next year

I would only counter with this:

* Oregon has a LOT of money.

* Jestin was a highly rated 4 star coming out of high school.

* He was a proven Power 2 player before he transferred to Oregon.

I wish we had developed such lowly QBs as Trace McSorely, Sean Clifford and Drew Allar.

Yeah when you've had Petras, Hill, McNamera and Sullivan I suppose that lot looks good. Having Saquon Barkley and a defense that can outtalent a majority of your opponents makes you look better than you are. Can you name a top Wide Receiver from those years with those guys?

Allar was a five star, he's returning for his senior season because his draft stock is pretty low compared to what he was expecting. What is the highest drafted QB in the Franklin tenure? How many has Ryan Day or Lincoln Riley had? You may say I'm putting him against an elite tier but that's what Franklin is supposed to be. He can't win big games like Day or Lincoln, but he recruits like them right? That must mean he is a master at talent acquisition. What does he do with that talent?
