I somewhat get where you are coming from with your response; however, that poster has a good point…players that are not clear cut NFL draftees should probably play in their team’s bowl games. You seem like a douche.

They were in the Citrus Bowl. And several Purdue parents and fellow players did NOT speak highly of him. At all.Charlie Jones sat out the Purdue bowl game and was drafted in the 4th round. I guess he would have been 3rd round or higher if he had joined Purdue in the Cheez-It Bowl.
Josh Rosen comes to mind.Everything I've read does not suggest that was the issue directly. Many GM's were concerned about his character. He was all about me and not very humble. Top QB's in the league, such as Mahommes, are humble. Coaches question is he will be coachable because he has things to fix. He didn't have a great pro combine either.
Good thing he skipped the bowl game to prepare for the draft. That worked out well for him.
He only ran a 4.72 40 at the combine. He may have run again at the Iowa pro day.KM 40 time wasn't great. KM was a great Hawk. Not playing in bowl game allowed X a great opportunity. He still may stick with a team. Im sure he will get a look.
Then why sit out?Exactly. He’s a fringe guy to begin with and didn’t test well. Has nothing to do with sitting out a worthless bowl game. If Moss, Jack and LaPorta decided to sit it wouldn’t have effected their draft stock 1 bit. I’m glad they played. They are all legendary players, especially Campbell. But it’s BS to say Merriweather didn’t get drafted because he didn’t play in the bowl game. He was a 6th-7th round guy anyway.
There was plenty of game film on him. Do some of you guys really think playing a game against a Kentucky team that had half their players would have boosted his stock? If he’s good enough to make team he’ll do it. If not he’s an intelligent young man with a bright future who was a great hawk. Then why sit out?
That's starting to happen. And it's a good thing. To be fair it was sort of lame iowa had a rematch for bowl game. I think the practice of staying out of bowl games sucks but on the less prestigious ones and this case a rematch bowl game? Hard to blame avoiding injury. If they want these less bowls to matter maybe they need nil bonuses tied to it at minimum.
Glorified scrimmages now. Let kids get experience and have some fun.I'm on the fence a little with these stupid bowl games now. there are too many of them and they are worthless. sure it's a chance to show off your skills, but that bowl win last year against KY was a joke. the game was a joke. chance to injure yourself.
Absolutely ! It was great to see the potential of X in that game.Glorified scrimmages now. Let kids get experience and have some fun.
I'm sure he didn't sleep well thinking about this...several Purdue parents and fellow players did NOT speak highly of him. At all.
Good call (bump).Phil Parker coached DBs have a way of finding success in the pros. Even though Merriweather had to go the UFA route ... I wouldn't be counting him out anytime soon.
