Michigan Pulls 4 Star OL Scholarship...Has Iowa Interest

Is that Bobby's real last name? It can't be and if so, poor guy, must have been teased on a daily basis.

A writer for this site recently posted an article on this subject..ISU(amongst others)was mentioned as a school that had reached out to him. Iowa was not one of them.

The kid and his parents should not have refused "Weirdo's" request for a sleepover or the chance to attend class with him.

This just shows what a POS Harbaugh is. The kid has been committed to UM since 2013 and now Harbaugh pulls his offer 2 weeks before National Signing Day because he thinks he can get a higher rated recruit.
Parents should think twice before allowing their kids to play for this jackass.

Btw, I see the kid is a Rivals Top 250 and rated as the #2 player from the state of Illinois. It will be interesting to see if the Hawkeyes get involved especially if they are not feeling good about Farniok and Jackson.

Have never, ever liked Harbaugh. From the crybaby crowd noise thing at Kinninck when he was in college, to the tantrums he threw while on the Bears (cannot believe Ditka never kicked his ass) to his sideline antics as a Coach.

He may very well bring Meeeeeeeechigan to public enemy #1 status, replacing O$U.

If he has been committed since '13 than he was recruited by Hoke and Hokes staff. If JH didn't think the kid was worthy, than he should have pulled last year when he came in.
I think that is still really bad but he could justify it by saying it wasn't his recruit and hence given the kid an entire year to re-open his recruiting.

Can not imagine doing that to a kid that must have been a huge UM fan to have wanted to commit that early.

Well, you seem pretty angry:)
You obviously don't know the whole story...but understand this kid committed to Michigan at 14 years old...and committed to a different staff. If he wasn't a good fit, then this is the way it should work.
Is a player who decommits a POS?

Exactly. No problem anymore pulling scholarship offers as kids play the same game and give their "commitment" and then leave when another offer comes along. But 3 weeks before NSD ? Especially when this kid has been all Michigan for years. He's basically without the school/education he was counting on and left to scramble now for anther school. Pretty sad. This isn't even like compensating the kid with a 4-year medical scholarship for an injury to make sure his education is covered. They're just cutting the kid loose completely. What a shame.

Unless there's a skeleton in the kid's closet we don't know about, that's terrible (unethical) behavior on the part of the Michigan coaches. That kind of stuff will spread like wildfire among potential recruits.
Yep...wildfire
Elite recruiting is sometimes painful. This kid hasn't heard from the staff in eight months, didn't even take an official visit...remember that "sweet, nice" girl you never called back. It happens. Not a good fit. Feel for the kid, but it's probably in his best interest. I hope he becomes a star elsewhere.
Simple question for you guys before you bury Harbs...does a recruit have a responsibility to work hard and improve between the age of 15 and 18?

Of course he does. Very good possibility that he didn't improve to the UM coaching staff's liking. The point some are trying to make is that Harbaugh didn't realize that the kid hadn't improved until now - 3 weeks before NSD ? And, as mentioned, it wouldn't be so bad if it was injury related and they could offer him a medical scholarship to cover his education. They're just flat under-cutting the kid and his family at the last minute. You hear people around the country bitch!ng about the Saban and Meyer types, but Harbaugh is flat making a fool of himself and school with actions like this and his publicized climbing trees, sleepovers, and going to class with kids. A total clown at best.

Spoke8, how much time does Harbaugh need to complete his due diligence? Certainly not 12 full months? I completely agree new coaching staffs should be afforded the opportunity to evaluated committed but not yet signed high school athletes. Harbaugh waited until the 11th hour to pull the plug.

Iowa had a similar situation not too long ago with Beneventi from Illinois. The staff let him know in early December, two months before signing day, that they were going different directions. Unless I'm mistaken an assistant coach was dispatched to the players school to deliver the news. There is the right way to do something and the wrong way...I think its pretty clear which side Jimmy "I Want Cake Now" Harbaugh stands. I mean afterall, Cake Boy just had a sleep over with a prospective high school athlete...that is just creepy and wrong on so many levels.

Creepy? You are so petty. Coach travels to meet recruit...stays at the family's home...media blows it out of proportion because JH is in the public eye...and you call it creepy? ...to your original point, due diligence is a process...if a kid is regressing as a player and not fulfilling his end of the bargain, you have to move forward. Again, I feel sorry for the kid and I'm not certain it was handled properly, but you tough guys on the internet calling JH and Cake Boy, are laughable. By the way, how do you feel about your "Cake Boy" Pete Carroll and his transgressions

Its absolutely creepy that a coach would want to sleep over in the recruits bedroom, the media isn't blowing it out of proportion, the facts are facts and its creepy and sad a coach would go to such lengths to persuade a teenage kid to attend the school he coaches at. As for due-diligence, quit trying to defend Harbaughs actions as it relates to due diligence. Jim had the entire spring, summer and fall to confirm if this kid was a good fit for his program, but he waited until two weeks before signing day to pull his offer without explanation. On the surface, its a terrible way to conduct business. There might be more details to help justify Harbaughs actions, but i doubt it.

p.s. I'm not a Pete Carroll, USC or Seattle Seahawk fan. I think Carroll was complicit in a lot of the illegal activities that took place at USC and he was looking to bend the rules as much as he possibly could without breaking them. He got out before the posse arrived and obviously has had great success in Seattle. Beyond that, I don't care much for him at all but think he is a heck of a coach and motivator, also understands the phrase 'plausible deniability' quite well.

Cmon man, you are obvious Michigan fan. But even you can admit that doing this now, just a few weeks before signing day is sleazy as all heck. The staff had over a year to do this and now the kid has to scramble to find a right fit or even a school. And yes a player who decommits on signing day is a POS, oh wait go figure Michigan was involved in that one too

LOL...you obviously haven't done much due diligence yourself. I'll wait for your heartfelt apology...I'm sure it will be forthcoming.

Still upset about losing your RBack? Pathetic. Kid wanted to go elsewhere and you resort to calling 〽️Ichigan sleazy? Sounds like sour grapes to me. Michigan football is very appealing to many kids...your comments are quite uninformed and just plain ignorant. Did you know this kid has NEVER been on an official to Michigan?

What would you call it?!?!?! I have a son and the only thing I know that I would call is the police because a middle aged man is sleeping over with my teenage son! Furthermore, I find it funny you being on here as a Michigan fan (or pathetic) but none the less is there any crap you can talk with on the field play? Pretty sure Iowa has won 4 of the last 5 and I guess you can only hope that KF puts out another depth chart so you can get our leftovers

Did you know that kids can't take officials until their senior year and he had one scheduled and it was cancelled the day he also found out his scholarship was pulled. I can call Michigan sleazy because they are. If it looks like a duck and acts like a duck it is probably a duck. I am very well informed and actually was on a recruiting visit with a few kids that I coach to Michigan right before the start of the season. Spoke face to face with Jimmy boy, the staff, and toured all the facilities. Is that informed enough for you.

Michigan will now be on the list with Louisville with a strong hesitation to allow them to contact our players. This is not the way most schools recruit, an offer from a school is a commitment in our opinion. Yes 18 year olds decommit all the time, but if you are going to compare your program to the mind of an 18 year old I guess there is the problem right there. When our kids verbal they are committed (unless circumstances like coaching change or something like that) this is what we teach our kids....What is Michigan teaching their young men about commitment. I bet they are doing a hell of a job teaching their players to be good husbands and fathers with these sort of messages. Long story short, news like this travels fast and I guarantee HS coaches and players have taken notice and probably are taking a similar stance as our program

LOL...congrats on your tremendous success over RRod...I'm glad you find it so impressive.
Yep...Michigan is after your leftovers...funny, I wouldn't have expected your chest to be puffed out so
much in the New Year.

You guys must be close friends? And no, that is not informed enough. Only wish I could humiliate you here and now...but I'll spare you.

I bet you gave him a hug and called him "Jimmy Boy"...seems sleazy. Have a good night.
I did not, was very polite and professional as any coach should be (I personally didn't like his used car salesman approach). And boy you got me good didn't you, didn't think you actually had anything worth while to say.

If indeed Swenson didn't fit into Harbaugh's system, Harbaugh certainly knew that long before pulling his offer. For Harbaugh to not communicate his decision to Swenson personally certainly isn't very professional at all and it shows a cancerous character flaw.

It took harbaugh18 months(give or take) to realize he wasn't a "good fit"?

I think I'd expect a little more out of a large football program, than I would a kid...but that's just me I guess.

What a d'bag!

Not that I disagree with what you are saying however a lot of these kids do the same thing to the schools. Remember Higdon last year. Don't hate the player hate the game.

It's a douche move.
If he wasn't the guy they wanted he could have been told that a long time ago.
Doesn't surprise me in the least coming from harbaugh.
