What is Iowa ranked? How many do they have? Just curious...

Typo...meant to say one of the best downfield passing attacks in the country, not the best.

Cook is #10 in yards per completion which is the #1 stat for downfield passing attacks. So Id say top 10 is pretty good considering almost everyone in front is in a spread and we are still a run team first.

You can look at total number and sum stats...which will never paint a run first, ball control offense in a good light. If we let Cook air it out 40 plus times and game and constantly go downfield we'd be top 10 or better in all those sum stats...but that's not our offense.

When Cook does throw it..there really aren't any better PRO style teams at doing it. Just watch gametape of Cook throwing the ball and our WRs. He consistently fits it into tight windows, hits fades, and our WRs go up and make plays.

True...except we have the best downfield passing attacks in the country.

Will be interesting to see if CJ can consistently make throws against us that are more than short dump offs.

You forgot to mention that you don't really run the ball all that well. I was being nice. And don't think we won't take our shots against that questionable secondary.

The intangibles would appear to be in MSU's corner:

1. Dantonio and his players have been here before and have learned to execute in the limelight. For Iowa, it's been several years.

2. Iowa has never trailed in the 4th Q, which seems great in the rear view, but it is poses a big unknown looking ahead. MSU not only has comeback, they've proven they can do so against tOSU in cbus.

3. CJB does bring a something to his position not captured by stats, and can be a nightmare to opposition when he is on. But Cook is also similar with possibly an even better arm, particularly now that CJ doesn't seem to have the long ball anymore.

4. Dantonio's team is ranked below ours despite being favored to win. Throws water all over our bulletin board. The guy, on top of all this, coaches well on gameday, takes calculated risks that seem to pay off with alarming frequency, and makes solid half-time adjustments. Iowa does all this but again it seems like Dantonio has been doing this for a longer while.

What does being ranked 48 in whatever have to do with MSU having one of the best downfield passing attacks in the country?

It implies that 47 other teams have better passing attacks, genius. Your rush offense is a pretty awful 80th in the country, so it's not like your so good at that that you de-emphasize the passing attack. Passing has been your bread and butter all year, and you're pretty mediocre at it.

And what is your definition of "downfield"? Cook is pretty good on intermediate routes, but I see very little "downfield" attacking from the MSU offense.

Cook doesn't throw the ball 40 plus times a game. We threw like 15 passes against OSU.

Sometimes you have to just watch games and decide what teams are good. MSU with Cook and our WRs/TEs have an elite passing attack.

You have one good receiver and one good pass catching TE. Iowa has 2 better TE's, and while we don't have a Burbridge, I'll take the rest of our receivers over the rest of yours.

There is not part of MSU's football team that is "elite."

Cook is a stud, and guess what, so is our QB. He consistently puts the ball in a shoebox and makes ridiculous throws into tight windows and before receivers even leave their break that gives defenders little or no chance to make a play. Beatherd and Cook both have thrown 3 picks, but Beatherd has taken every significant snap for Iowa, and Cook didn't even play in 1.5 games.
