Michigan suspends athletics for 2 weeks

What do you expect with Whitmer? Radical leftist will ruin this country quick!

Let's be clear, I'm sure in your mind that anyone left of radical right is considered radical left. Don't worry, the radical left is here to save the country so we'll have basketball for years to come. You're welcome.

I wonder if the result of all these postponed games = the tournament(s) get pushed back deeper into spring / summer.

You mean as to how well everything is going in the US now? This is trump's America and this is twice in a row that a Democratic President was handed a total shitshow by the former republican administration.
Nope, even Biden is doing exactly the same thing as Trump. Also, Biden shed almost $2 billion in taxable payroll in America on day 1. Talk about a shit show...

More than 400,000 people are dead. Thousands more are dying every day. And you're going crazy because college basketball won't be played as scheduled. Good for you. Maybe you should move to Russia or North Korea where they do things right. Nobody's stoppin' ya.

Derp

We always knew that Covid would mutate. Got news for people, when a guy in a rural community in Colorado who hasn't left the state tests positive for this strain chances are it's widespread in the USA. We just have to keep doing what we have been and not overreact. Of course I think people want stricter control and lockdowns. Notice how when there hasn't been widespread panic over this, NOW the UK comes out says it MAY be more deadly now.

Most classes are on-line this semester at Michigan and few students are in the residence halls. Looking at it from the outside, we can't know whether the UK variant penetrated otherwise effective protocol, or if the protocol was broken by one or more people associated with Michigan athletics. Regardless, a presumed 20 cases in the athletic department is a serious outbreak.

The athletics suspension is for UP TO 14 days, so it is possible that UM men's basketball could be back in action pretty quickly if no one in that program tests positive.

When Trump took over their North Korea was shooting missiles over Japan. The nightly news talked of Isis setting people on fire or cutting of heads. Carravan's bringing in illegals overwhelming emergency rooms in California, (which has had 61 hospitals close), before covid. We had the weakest economic recovery ever, never more than 1.5% during Obama. That kind of shitshow?

Nebraska might as well shutdown for the year. They don't want to play and no one wants to watch them 🤣

Don’t you have a cancer fund raiser thread to go and sh*t on? Or do you want your garbage exposed to more people?

Yes poor Indiana really deserved to be in the B10 championship game after losing to OSU. OSU should have been disqualified because their opponents opted out. Very unfair to Indiana.
Whether you beleive OSU or Indiana deserved to be in the championship game is irrelevant. The point is the B1G literally changed their own rules on the fly and some question whether that would have been done for a 'lesser' football school.

Can you please share what % of these 400,000 are college age? < 25yo?

They changed the rule because it was the correct and logical thing to do given the fact pattern that was presented. OSU could have just forfeited the Michigan game and they still would have been in the B10 championship.

This x1000. And don't give me the "but they'll spread it". These B1G basketball players are basically in a bubble already... Not likely to spread to many.

Saw that Ohio state is playing penn state instead of Michigan this week.
Too lazy to look, but can I assume this is not an originally scheduled game? If so, what are we doing to play this week to make up for lost games? Maybe the view is that if some teams are gonna miss multiple games, it’s not advantageous to expose your “healthy” team to a potential loss?

My prediction is you say they’re too athletic and that we’re going to lose about 7 minutes into the game..

saw it at the bottom of the big 10 screen scroll. Said it was a reschedule.

Speaking of games getting made up, unless they extend the regular season & move the dates of conference tournaments & the NCAA tournament, I don't see how all these games can get made up. And I don't have much faith in the B1G getting it done, either.

Debbie will have 5 games to make up starting Feb 3, the date they return after a 24 day lay off.

Seems to me when rescheduling games for Nebraska, and others in similar standing (like PSU), that their games against teams contending for the conference championship should take priority over rescheduling a game with, lets say, Northwestern.

Unless the goal is to get more teams into the tournameby. MSU needs all the shots at Michigan and Iowa it can have given it’s lack of quality wins

Assign OSU a loss to Michigan and they still win the tie breaker over Indiana. I view it as a batting title with not enough at bats. If you go 0-fer until you get the minimum required, you still deserve the title. I think that is why the BIG did it

Wasn't about a tie breaker,.. OSU didn't qualify because of the original six game conference play requirement,.. This was waived for OSU's benefit and Indiana's detriment..
