Agreed. Either let them go pro or don’t, wtf is this middle ground BS? The NBA sucks at everything, including entertaining people!

A kid that is a sure fire NBA first round pick out of big school should absolutely skip college and do this. I know nothing about this kid though. Is he a sure fire first rounder?

Cronin’s upset because he was harmed, but what was in the kid‘s best interest? Go to UCLA for a year of unpaid labor while being required to attend classes for a subject that he possibly doesn’t care about? Or go get paid for a year of apprenticeship where he can concentrate entirely on basketball and enter the NBA draft? The draft will tell what was best for him.

Yes the NBA system is dumb. And college coaches are almost as dumb if they believe that a guy improves more playing for them, with the NCAA restrictions on number of hours they can work out, playing against inferior athletes, then by turning pro and concentrating on basketball 100% of the time and playing against other pros.

If NBA teams want to draft guys out of high school, let them. They can put them in the G League or Europe and let them develop if they aren't ready for the NBA, just like pro baseball. If guys want to go to college, they have to stay for 3 years like baseball. Make them actually be students and take classes, not this fake, made-up crap where the shoe companies can pay guys to go to a certain school for a year and not be a student.
