Who are we taking to Midlands? We get 15? entrants so who goes and how many rs do we take?
No, 133.I think 23 nailed it. Rathbun is down at 125 right?
I'm making some assumptions that either Turk or Carton are at 141 regardless (which eliminates the need for Happel to go). I'm also assuming 165 is wide open, which IMO at this point anyway means Gunther or St. John are fighting it out, and Marinelli is the wild card obviously.I didn't know how many 41s we were taking and 65s. I'd really like to see Wagner, Rathbun, Happel, Young, and Marinelli all go but I figured that's not in the cards. Also didn't know if stollhouse was going or not. I hope big Sammy cleans house there.
I expect to see Happel and Young at Midlands. I could see Stoll debuting at Midlands but only getting 1 or 2 matches. This would be a good year for Midlands to give us more allotments because there are 3 or 4 more I would like to see. Taking a wild guess:
Gman
Clark
Turk, Carton, Happel
BS
Kemdawg
Bull, Young, Gunther
Meyer
Brooks
Wilke
Holloway
Stoll

That leaves the "scraps" for guys like Rathbun, Wagner, etc., that could be thrust into the lineup next year (Rathbun getting majored at the Luther Open is an obvious concern, but 1 match I presume won't tell the tale of his Iowa career), who they may just want to get a taste of Big Boy competition, this is where Wilcke comes in as well.
I'm also assuming Big Sam is back by then. So essentially it's a whole boatload of assumptions! But you gotta start somewhere, so that's where I started.
Outside the "any given day" angle, I suppose we hope he had some "minor" injury that related to the outcome. I'm over it already.Rathbun left the tourney with an injury a week after Bonusing his way through a tourney before losing to Rudy by three points. Going to guess there were some injury issues yesterday.
You did indeed. Had a couple of my Son's friends who were trying to unload their Michigan tickets for weeks and couldn't do it without losing their ass, so they drove across the State and went to the game.I picked a good game for my first Iowa football game. Pretty exciting.
So with Turk out for year, SSJ hurt and not looking impressive, and Rathbun not looking ready for big time competition that opens 3 spots. Possibly Young, Moody, Bowman?1. Gilman
2. Rathbun
3. Clark
4. Carton
5. Turk
6. Sorensen
7. Kemerer
8. Gunther
9. Marinelli
10. St. John
11. Meyer
12. Wilcke
13. Brooks
14. Holloway
15. Stoll
(wildcards = Wagner or Happel instead of Rathbun)
Turk is out the rest of the year?!So with Turk out for year, SSJ hurt and not looking impressive, and Rathbun not looking ready for big time competition that opens 3 spots. Possibly Young, Moody, Bowman?

I wouldn't expect Stoll back until sometime after New Years... Highly doubt he'll compete at Midlands.
Gotta put Young in there.
Not really. Cory's not even in Zane's league.I really hope Illinois makes it this year. A Clark/Richards matchup is always worth the price of admission.

So much of this season comes down to Stoll. If TnT think Stoll is going to be healthy enough to score big points at Nationals, I would be tempted to pull some Freshman shirts then let them sit out next year, along with Lee. It would be a hail Mary, but we need something.
If Stoll isn't going to be healthy enough, then let everybody shirt who can and look for a big push in two years.
Nicely played, Mr. Dub.The Big10?
why do you think young is a better option than AMNot sure what this had to do with my post about Young. I'm confused.
Everyone knows AM is going to Midlands. I don't think Spooner or anyone has said Young is a better option. Young is the most likely freshman not named Alex to be at Midlands.why do you think young is a better option than AM

I don't believe Stoll would qualify for a medical. He's already used his redshirt, and he competed in 100% of the teams competitions last season. Even if he sat out this entire season, he would need to miss significant time across two seasons, I think, to be granted a 6th year.Is there any thoughts circling that if you shirt the freshman and essentially write off this year that stoll would stay on the shelf too and get a medical? He and lee would be nice bookends for 2-3 years.
If this was already speculated and discussed my apologies.
If ever they invent time travel, I think we can all agree, the beginning of last season is the point in time we would need to go back to, to convince Burak to redshirt of course!I'm still hoping they redshirt Burak.
Or redshirted Ed Banach 33 times or so .................I'm still hoping they redshirt Burak.
I get the feeling Holloway is committed to Heavyweight for the year. At 1.5% per week, assuming he weighs ~220lbs, it would take him 7 weeks to legally drop the weight.Half month out. Is Holloway cutting to wrestle 197 here or HWT? Who takes clarks place or stolls place if they aren't ready?
I was unsure the weight cutting protocol. That sucks that he wouldn't attempt to get to 197 because Wilcke has been less than impressive so far. I think competition from Holloway and Bowman would help at least push him and we'd be better for whoever comes out on top.I get the feeling Holloway is committed to Heavyweight for the year. He needs to get ahold of Mr. Grothus thenI'm not so sure Halloway ever sees '97 again.
