Miles has 'em playing Nebraska ball

What a pathetic performance but Michigan was on fire they couldn't miss, maybe their best shooting performance of the season.
I really wanted to play Nebraska and get revenge for their home cooking they got when we played them.

And to think they started out 3-0 to start the season.

Where's that Nebraska troll that was here a couple weeks ago? N.Legend I think was his name.

He's talking volleyball since that's all they have over there. And won't be heard of again until Nebraska does well in a sport besides volleyball.

Why would a guy troll when his team has NEVER won a NCAA tourney game. If Northwestern wins a game in the tourney will they be the only P5 team left without a NCAA victory?

Yes. And it will be delicious should it happen this year.

In fact, there are even a few mid-major conferences whose entire members own at least one NCAA victory, I believe.

There really is no place like Nebraska.

From ESPN.com:

The 93-57 (36 point loss) rout of Nebraska was the Cornhuskers' worst home loss in program history.

The Wolverines (20-11, 10-8 Big Ten) led by as many as 38 points, and the final margin was the biggest in a Nebraska home loss since Ohio State won 79-45 (34 points) at the old Devaney Center in January 2012.

The Huskers (12-18, 6-12) finished the regular season with losses of 16, 16, 15 and 36 points. Fifth-year coach Tim Miles is now 75-85 overall and 33-57 in Big Ten games.

"I'm not worried about my job," Miles said.
"My administrators have supported me the whole time and have been there to support us whether at the games or practice. I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about this team and getting their butts in gear, and that's what we have to do."

Against Michigan, the Huskers finished with 16 turnovers and shot just 28.6 percent in the second half. The Huskers were 2 of 15 on 3s.

The Wolverines are 8-0 against the Huskers since Nebraska joined the Big Ten in 2011-12 and have won 10 straight in the series.

They came into the game off a 67-65 loss at Northwestern, where it gave up Dererk Pardon's winning layup on an 85-foot baseball pass. The Wolverines shot 63 percent against Nebraska, 51.9 percent on 3s (14 of 27).

The Huskers scored the first basket, and then the Wolverines rolled off 14 straight points with the help of six Nebraska turnovers to go up by double digits. A 13-2 run made it 39-19 late in the half.

"We talked after last game (at Minnesota) about having a crisis of confidence. This is beyond that," Miles said. "There is a defeatism. As soon as the first thing goes wrong, we expect the worst to happen. We have to be mentally stronger. It looks to me like it's a team walking around getting ready to get hit by lightning, and that can't be us."

BIG PICTURE

Nebraska: The Huskers once again are staggering into the conference tournament. Two years ago they came out of the regular season off eight straight losses, last season they dropped four of their last five, and Sunday's loss was their fourth in a row.

Tai Webster, the Huskers' only senior, played his last home game. He came out with 3:46 left to a standing ovation from the remaining fans. Webster scored eight points, marking the first time in 31 games he didn't reach double figures.

When your coach talks about defeatism being a problem in the lockeroom it's never a good sign.

He's had talent transfer and some injury issues. He probably gets another year, but he seems to have lost the lockeroom. I don't know that there's a big enough expectation of winning to get the powers that be to pull the trigger this year.

He has talent there but my God they can't shoot or defend 3 pointers.

I actually like Miles, but I think he only gets one more year.

(Yoda voice) He should be worried about his job, he should be.

Just take off the beginning" he should be"and you got a perfect yoda sentence there.

I don't think he gets fired Nebraska won't find anyone better which we talked about a week or less ago.

They've had some good games in conference play, so I don't understand why he would think the players feel "defeated". The only thing I can think of is Miles seems pretty into himself so maybe some of the players take that the wrong way and feel like there's times where he seems more concerned with making himself look good rather than it be all about his team looking good.

It is the hope of the Nebraska Athletic Director that
Miles can pull off what Pitino did at Minnesota this
season. Next season will be a hot seat for Miles
and he must reverse the direction of the program.

Pretty much. I thought he would have let Miles go this year, but he gets one more shot. It's basically NCAA Tournament or bust for Miles next year.

I'm anything but dialed in with Nebraska athletics, but I never got the impression Miles' seat was warm this year. With that being said, Nebby was off to a great start in conference, winning two road games out of the gate against supposed title contenders and failed to capitalize. I suspect some of their fade can be attributed to the injury to Morrow, but going 4-13 including the loss today after their initial two wins in conference is a major meltdown any way you slice it. It was tough for Iowa to climb out of the hole Lickliter left, but winning at Nebraska, even with the new facilities, is proving to be an even bigger challenge.

The last few weeks of the season really made Miles' seat warm. He's only had one winning season in his five years, just suffered the worst home loss in school history and I believe the most losses in a single-season in school history. Has only finished in the top 10 in the Big Ten once in his tenure. This all with more resources poured into the program than ever before. He has some great young recruits and talent on the team, he will get one final shot to coach this group he has assembled to see if he can get it together, and do so against a much more manageable schedule next year.
