Any fans on here? Loving the moves we've made in the offseason so far. Especially like the Morrison, Odorizzi and Lynn pickups as of late. Rodeny and Reed should really help in the 'pen as well. Seems like Levine and Falvey think we're pretty close to contending and are gearing up at a deeper run in the postseason this year. Refreshing to see after the Terry Ryan debacle. Excited for the season.

I agree. I think they figure the Mauer run is nearly over and want to make one, big run. The fact that these are mostly one year deals wouldn't give me much confidence that this is a long term effort, if I'm a fan. They have tried the conservative approach with not much to show. I guess give this strategy a shot and see if it works.

Last year proved they can make the playoffs as a WC. Get to the playoffs and maybe catch a hot streak. It's hard to imagine anyone other than Boston/NYY/Cleveland/Houston making much progress. All they need is to be top 5.

Mauer’s run was over years ago, only thing left is is pay. You can google images of him golfing an in Cedar Rapids. Dude hasn’t lifted a weight in his life and have seen chickens with bigger legs.

My fears are how long Santana will take to get back in rotation and how long before Sano eats himself out of baseball.

I did like their moves.

His MVP days are long gone, but he still batted over .300 last year and is a top-3 defensive first baseman. So while he's not worth anywhere near the $23 million he's getting paid, he's still a good player.

Santana does concern me, as well. Gotta think once he does come back it's going to take a while to get him back to form.

Yeah, I would have preferred more years on the deals, but Lynn and Morrison wouldn't agree to anything else so they might as well sign them and reevaluate after the season. Either way, even if it is just for one year, those guys help the team out quite a bit in my opinion.

So...Morrison, was he a FA or did they get him in trade, and if so why did TB let him go? I do not know much about him so just curious. His power #s look pretty solid. Is there some other issue?

These one year deals are really advantageous. Those players are going to treat this like a contract year and they're going to play with something to prove.

Free agent. I think they're pretty much tearing down and rebuilding in Tampa, so he didn't really fit in their plans.

Really excited about their new guys as they could make this team a 90 win team. The key is Sano. Will he be healthy? Will he be in shape? Will he be suspended? How long will he be suspended?

Yeah, he's another question mark. Wouldn't think it'd be that hard to get in a little better shape especially when you're a pretty special hitter, but I guess we'll see.

Cost.

And outlier of a year driven by a crazy jump in ISO that is probably not sustainable

I like Joe Mauer a lot, but $23 million is a lot to pay a singles hitter.

I’ve stood next to Mauer, he’s a legitimate 6-4 and in HS, he wasn’t chicken legged by any means. He plays in the local beer league hockey circuit and is pretty decent too

Why am I not surprised you're a Twinkie fan.

Always preferred this over Rookie of the Year. The Run Around Sue montage is my favorite part
