Great games so far in this tournament. New York City FC won 5-3 away over Costa Rican champions AD San Carlos. Seattle dominated the first half to go up two goals at Olimpia, but the Honduran champions have equalized with ten minutes left on Fox Sports 2.

LAFC needs 1 more goal to advance over Mexican giants Leon on FS1. Seattle advancing as it stands on FS2. Here is the bracket so far...

And on Saturday night, Nashville SC has their first ever game in the MLS opener at Atlanta on FOX. Can’t wait!

What's the tiebreak? 1 more goal would be 2-2 aggregate with no away goals scored?

There is none at that point. It’s on to extra time and then potentially penalty kicks.

EDIT: This game just went NUTS! Beautiful give-and-go for Vela to one-time to level it 2-2, and then Rossi with the GOAL of the TOURNAMENT!

LAFC in the driver’s seat...

Lets pile the misery on them this weekend. ;)

Im not even sure what team you will play. We are already tired (as evidenced by the horrendous play in the entire second half last week and tonight). I bet you see a lineup change. What an absolute bummer. 2 games into the season and it feels like a total gut punch.

Chicago Fire @ Seattle Sounders on ESPN Sunday.

I try to get excited about the team and then I see the logo and it makes me angry. I'm already prepared to be disappointed this season.

It sucks, but at least it’s about the ONLY thing that has sucked about this off-season: Mansueto taking over, Nelson Rodriguez gone, a proven keen eye for talent in Heitz at GM, Wicky over Pauno, WGN TV deal, 5 new capped internationals, and three new designated players. Have you seen highlights of our three new designated players? All quality.

I know that, read the rest of my post ;)

I'm saying you won't get our starting squad on a short week.

Also, I'm bitter and angry at the Sounders and can't sleep. Ugh. Sports... why do I care so much with much more important things in life.

I haven't but I've read a few 2020 prediction articles and I haven't seen 1 that has Chicago in the playoffs. This club has disappointed me too much to get my hopes up. Hopefully they prove me and the pundits wrong

Happy Opening Day!: Chicharito’s debut for LA Galaxy vs Houston is this afternoon on Univision, and Atlanta United @ Nashville SC tonight on FOX. Two tweets for the two new teams:

Miami Internacional’s beautiful renovation of Lockhart Stadium:

@jaxhawk06 Have you seen the names George Heitz scouted and brought to Europe with FC Basel? It’s an impressive track record discovering Ivan Rakitic, Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Salah and Xherdan Shaqiri.

Here are our new attacking players (plus two TAM signings) the last three of which signed after the pundits predictions, and will start with the team next week:

Alvaro Medran (TAM center mid, Spain U21, Real Madrid, Valencia, Rayo Vallecano)...

Robert Beric (DP striker, Slovenia NT, St. Etienne)

Gaston Gimenez (DP holding mid, Argentina NT, Velez)

Ignacio Aliseda (Youth DP winger, Argentina U23 (champion), Defensa y Justicia)

Luka Stojanovic (TAM attacking mid, Serbia U21, Leading scorer in Serbia)

Add in highly touted US YNT Mauricio Pineda out of our academy, Boris Sekulic of Slovakia NT, and Miguel Navarro of Venezuela U23 plugging holes into an improved defense from last year, and it’s a totally new team.

MLS suspending its season until further notice. I imagine the CONCACAF Champions League games tonight will still be going forward.

1996 MLS Cup Final (the first, LA Galaxy vs DC United) about to start on ESPN2, w/ 25 Greatest ABC/ESPN MLS games of all-time going up on ESPN+ for the 25th Anniversary of the league.

I'm most excited about being able to watch Chicago Fire vs. NY/NJ MetroStars (now New York Red Bulls) from 2000 MLS Semifinals. Loved that team.

Former Des Moines Menace and Wisconsin Badger midfielder Chris Mueller with the goal for Orlando. C’mon, stay tied!

What a comeback for LAFC! What a fun match
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

What the heck Seattle! Blew it two games in a row and lose to these scrubs in a shootout. Just awful. Going to bed pissed now.
F'n Sounders
I so wish the UI had a team.

It's baa-aaaaaaaaaaaack! Tonight on Fox Sports 2, the long awaited CCL Quarterfinals. MLS leads all leagues with four clubs left (three Liga MX clubs, and the Honduran champions are also left), but they've got some work to do in the second legs tonight...

Unfortunately, LAFC and Atlanta United have both regressed since the break

LAFC vs Cruz Azul will be a really interesting match-up. Cruz Azul just lost the Mexican semifinals after being up 4-0 after the first leg. Are they deflated coming in, or looking at this as possible redemption? I have to think the latter, and that it hurts LAFC.

I can't see any MLS team moving on other than Montreal.
I can't see any of them moving on. Atlanta is terrible, LAFC isn't great right now. Nobody has played in weeks.

I repeat, effing Seattle. Should be playing tonight.
Really? They are all underdogs at this point, but I could see both of the two tonight being capable of moving on. In order of most to least plausible...

1) Montreal Impact
2) New York City
3) LAFC
4) Atlanta United

Well yea, with the exception of LAFC, of course, they're all behind. The ball is round, as they say, but if I were to do a four-way, I'd bet Montreal and the 3 Mexican teams. The three US teams just seem far too flawed and out of form to be much of a threat.

Second half of Montreal “at” Olympia just underway on FS2. Montreal needs two goals this half to overcome the away goals tiebreaker. Dominated most of the first but came away with nothing to show for it.

UPDATE:There’s one!

The NYCFC at Tigers on now was apparently bumped up to FS1 and the YouTube TV guide never updated. Makes sense. Liga MX vs MLS is ratings gold in this country.
