1. The Big Ten just announced Week 5's game against Michigan State will be under the lights at Kinnick Stadium, Iowa's second consecutive night game of the season after the trip to Penn State. Kickoff will be at 6:30 CT, with the game on NBC.
2. Talked to DE/TE Malachi Curvey after the Waukee-Valley game on Friday. His recruitment is still wide open, and that includes Iowa — he said the coaches are telling him it's when, not if, an offer is coming. Doubtless this is a reflection of Iowa's famously stingy approach to offers and their "commitability" (new word alert). Despite being an ISU legacy recruit, he said his dad (Brent Curvey) isn't pushing him to Ames and wants him to "write his own story," and with interest now arriving from the likes of USC, Michigan and Michigan State. As of now, Curvey should be at Iowa-MSU next week. More on this tonight or tomorrow.
3. Cade McNamara won't be a stranger to Penn State and the whiteout; one of his signature plays in his Wolverine career was finding Erick All on a crossing route that turned into a 48-yard, game-winning score with under 5 minutes left in the game back in 2021. Cade did mention he hadn't participated in a Whiteout game at night, as awaits Iowa; ultimately though it helps to have a head coach and starting QB (and now starting TE) who have experience winning in that hostile environment.
4. I talked to Beth Goetz in passing on Saturday — she said they're at about 45,000 tickets sold for the Crossover At Kinnick in October. Obviously, October in Iowa is typically good-but-not-great weather, and they're all very much hoping this doesn't get moved inside to Carver. But this being a charity event lightens the burden to "deliver a show" — plus, c'mon, it's Caitlin Clark. You can just put her at the 50-yard line to wave and you could fill half of Kinnick.

5. Short on details for now, but I've heard (quite reliably) there's very good news afoot on football donations.
6. Who all among you are making the trip to Happy Valley? Will be my first time there this Saturday; staying with family in Lancaster. Half-expecting the rental car to be a Conestoga wagon.
