Yes. I keep thinking, he could be one of the most admired figures of our time but he keeps doing this crazy stuff. I’ve just realized he is who he is: a smart, rich POS with a lot of problems.

He's kind of going through what Trump went through. He wants celebrities to love him and they mostly don't and he is mostly irritated by the dorks who love him but he can't afford to lose their support because what he wants is to be famous and adored. What's sad is he would still be pretty well adored if he was capable of the slightest amount of mock humility over this buying Twitter saga. Admit he blundered into it instead of pretending he had this plan to build a free speech paradise online. Too late for that now, he's doubled down every step since then. The issue in the lawsuit matters in terms of Twitter's revenue but regardless of the suit's outcome, nothing changes the fact that he's not only been permissive of neonazis on his platform (while censoring people he dislikes despite his free speech pledges), but he's often engaged with them personally in a chummy way. Some people won't forget that. Also doubt this slows him down with that.

Can someone (besides @Phenomenally Frantastic) explain to me why Elon cultists exist? I don’t worship any person’s abilities, persona, status, etc. (except Peter North - legend) so it’s hard for me to wrap my head around those that do. But Elon in particular baffles me. I don’t get it.

FWIW, I think Phenom Fran has commented before that a lot of his devotion to Elon is driven by environmental reasons. Then you factor in that some people just have that obsessive/compulsive trait and there you go.
To me, that's a better reason than just the rich/tech bro/douche bag/crypto bro thing that a lot of Elon followers have. My guess is if it wasn't Elon, it would be someone else, and there was probably someone before Elon as well. Some people are just wired that way.
