The 25-year-old son of Jesus Ismenia Marinero has been booked on suspicion of first-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony in connection with her death.

The son, Roberto C. Martinez-Marinero, reportedly told investigators that he killed his mother, threw his 5-year-old brother Josue Ramirez-Marinero in the Elkhorn River and put his 11-month-old brother Angel in a dumpster. Angel was found alive and well. Josue has not been found.

Police think Josue was thrown into the Elkhorn River at the U.S. Highway 275 Bridge west of South 229th Street. The boy, described as having short black hair, last was seen wearing a gray shirt and gray sweat pants.

The Omaha Police Department, with assistance from the FBI and other law enforcement agencies, began conducting a multi-agency ground, water and air search of the area Friday.

About 100 federal state and local law enforcement officers are on the scene, a Douglas County Sheriff's deputy estimated. Members of the U.S. ATV Search and Rescue Association also were on the scene, the deputy said.

Detectives and Omaha police helicopter Able 1 were searching the Elkhorn River. Police, including K9 units, were walking through wooded areas on both sides of the river near the Q Street bridge over the Elkhorn River. Officers also were on both sides of the river near the Highway 275 bridge. A Salvation Army truck brought drinking water for the searchers working near the Highway 275 bridge.

About 5 p.m., a line of searchers were walking in the river south of the Highway 275/92 bridge between the west bank and an Omaha Fire & Rescue boat. The Omaha police helicopter was flying low over the surface of the water. Law enforcement officers walked along the banks.

Crews had blocked off Highway 275 at the river Friday morning, but it was reopened at midday. Heavy rain in the area Tuesday night swelled the river level.

Family members were taken west across the Highway 275/92 bridge over the Elkhorn River. A group of people and vehicles could be seen in a landing area west of the bridge and along the river. Vehicles are being allowed to cross the bridge in both directions.
