Moss in contention to start or play starter minutes for KU

I would hope so. Why would a starter transfer his senior year not expecting to start? Not that any of it makes sense to me. Good luck to him.

I'm actually really excited about this. For starters, always like Moss as a player. Secondly, Iowa doesn't play Kansas. Lastly, it will give us insight into whether Moss is the player we know him to be, or if Fran's incompetence contributed to his relatively underwhelming career at Iowa. If Moss averages 20 ppg and becomes a defensive stud, this board is going to be in epic meltdown mode.

I will be curious to see how it goes for him. I was always a big fan of his and thought a streaky shooter should be allowed to shoot through slumps instead of riding the bench for 10-15 minute stretches.
I can’t decide if I want him to do really well as an indictment of Fran or do poorly to validate Fran and letting a 3 year starter move on. The results will probably fall somewhere in between.

I don’t think there would be an epic meltdown if Moss averages 20 ppg. Most of us, like you, would be happy for the lad, although we will never know if Fran not using Moss the way you would have used Moss made his Iowa career any less successful.

First off, I'd highly doubt that Moss will average 20pts a game for KU even if he starts the whole year. Very few KU ALL Amer have put up those kind of numbers. Self is more of a BIG coach and he'll have to play some defense. I'm not surprised Moss looks good in practice. He's always had the skills if not the confidence. We've all seen him go off in some meaning less game only to see him disappear in a big game when it matters most. He won't be able to hide at KU, so he'll step up or be exposed. Your right though, it will be interesting to watch it unfold.

I get your point. However, when Moss missed a shot or two, he mentally checked out and didn't really do anything the rest of the game, passing up opportunity after opportunity. That was not a Fran issue, whether you like him or not, that was Moss's mental makeup.

I don't doubt people on here will blow a lid. But what I don't see mentioned much is the difference in talent around Moss. I would assume all of Kansas' starters are better than any of our starters this year. Kansas has traditionally had thoroughbred athletes who can break down defenses 1 on 1. Moss never had that at Iowa. Moss was inconsistent because we consistently asked him to be the shot-creator. He's not that guy. He's at his best as a spot-up shooter. And he showed he could be a great spot-up shooter.

If Kansas has lots of talent around him, breaking down defenses, getting him open, and Moss has nothing to do but shoot, I don't see why Moss can't light it up next year.

will we ever find out the reason/reasons why he transferred?

did he simply want a bigger stage to perform on?

was he unhappy w/ Fran?

was his dad unhappy with Fran?

I’m sure he got tired of the staff asking him to shoot more! I recall hearing Fran say they were constantly telling Moss to take more shots but he wouldn’t.

I’m also sure he got tired of disappearing from the rotation in the second halves of games and splitting time with the coaches son or on the bench for JBo and Connor w/ the second half scenario. Best of luck Moss, hope you do well at KU and punk another team in the B12!

Does it really F-N matter? He's Kansas's problem now.
If he does well, good for him, if not, good for us. C.J. Fredrick will fill his old position just fine, Time to get over it, it's been since April that he departed the ship.

That’s because Bohannon and Connor were mentally tougher then him.

Hope he does fine with Kansas but we have heard he was “great” in practice for years.

I will continue to be skeptical. I wouldn’t be shocked if he has a decent year filling the one niche role he was brought in for - sit on the wing and take open 3’s while Kansas’s better Guards drive and dish. Iowa needed more than that from their starting SG.

No, we need better point guard play.
