i remember his high school videos and I thought he looked like a Marble 2.0 also his shot looked the same back then. Not sure it quite does now, but so many things that has always reminded me of marble. This freshman class should have 2 NBA guys, a college guy in JoBo who is a amazing college player but doesn't get drafted. I see Moss as a 2nd Rounder and Cook late first round.

Cook picked Iowa because his mom wanted him here because she wanted her son to get a good education. He seems like a mommas boy I think he could leave after his junior year but I'd bet he stays all 4.

His mom has said she wants him to get his degree, otherwise I wouldn't think he stays all 4.

I hate that Fran plays ellingson over moss at the end of games.

Until Moss develops a better free throw game, Ellingson closes. But what another worthless contribution by Ellingson ( 0-4 FG, 0-2 3 pts, 0 points 2 TO, allowed Matt Mooney to have 3-4 feet of space to rise for 3 3 pointers). Bad defense. Failed to recognize trapping defenses that made him pick up his dribble and have tough lanes to make passes.

Sorry, fellow Hawkeye fans, but it is time to quit coddling Brady Ellingson and face the facts that he is not good enough to play at Iowa. Brady supporters are lying to yourselves about his talent or progress. Josh Ogelsby was not this bad.

I hate seeing Brady and Uhl on the floor together because they make Iowa look like 3 shooters against 5. Brady's defense is bad and he loses his man often. Brady may be a nice guy and good teammate but he needs to go elsewhere and let Fran get a better guard.

Hoping CMac is ready to go next year as I want to see less of Brady.

We need some guards in general. Attack the freaking basket

True. S. Dakota got to rack and got 25 FT attempts in a road game. Iowa got 15 FT attempts and a few were end of game intentional type. Moss looks like only guy with potential for dribble drive game. Dailey we don't know. Ellingson--not ever going to be that guy. JayBo is going to be limited in his chances to get to rack.

Sorry but when has Brady made/taken free throws at the end of the game??? He makes mistakes. 2 tonight. Moss needs the experience not Brady.

I get Fran's logic at the end of game situations, but even still he'd be a third option behind Jok and Bohannon.
Obviously Ellingson is not in there late for his ball handling skills and decision making (i.e. Minnesota game).

Very impressive 3 point shooting. If he can do that consistently, he will be special.

His dribble drive and finishing around the rim have been impressive all year. If he adds the range and makes defenders respect his outside shot, he'll be very tough to guard.

I could live with it if he actually shot free throws. When he does get the ball and it's rare, good things don't happen and we give up stuff on the other end defensively.
In our Wisconsin win he finally wasn't in.

Due to my advancing age, my immediate reaction was "Moss' game isn't really anything like Roy's". Then I thought for a second and realized you were talking about Devon. Silly me to think you were comparing to the all time scoring leader...

Moss has a pure jumper like Pete's, but Moss is more aggressive in taking it to the basket. Moss could be fabulous by the time next season rolls around. He has a very high ceiling, as do most of the youngsters on this Hawkeye team. I think the NIT is giving us a preview of what could be a terrific season next year.

I love Isaiah Moss. My NBA 2K myplayer (for anyone who knows what that is) has been named after him the past two years. I don't really care if it is a hot take but I think by the time he's a senior he has a chance to be better than RDM. I'm not saying his stats will be as good or that he will be that significant of a part of the offense, but that's a good thing.

We have so much talent all around and Moss just MIGHT be the most talented of the bunch. I'm not saying he will have a better career than JBo or Cook but I think the athleticism he brings on offense and defense can't be overlooked. It is so vital to have a back court player be able to penetrate and attack the rim. He needs to work on his vision quite a bit. His bball IQ is very high and that's apparent but sometimes he gets a bit selfish and if he is seeing passes is opting to not make them. There are a lot of things that factor in to this and experience is the remedy.

Good times ahead in Carver. Go hawks.

Wait, I thought Moss wasn't good enough to play and would be riding the pine next year. Literally half you guys are drama queens and can't see the forest through the trees. While this freshman class (including Moss) has a lot of talent, they don't have experience. Moss has the talent, but not the consistency, but that will come as he develops.

Here's the thing about Ellingson. He's actually a decent player, but he still lacks the experience. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that JayBo has played more minutes in his career than him. Brady is never going to be a star, but he has a role on this team as a spot up shooter. Every team needs a couple of those guys.

Now, I'm not going to disagree with those that say Uhl needs to sit next year. He has the skills, but has lost all confidence. He is way to hesitant now, which will continue to make it harder and harder for him to compete. He's the type of guy, however, that could transfer to a mid-major as a grad student and play a meaningful role.

Jury is still out on Christian Williams. I don't see him as a guard. The guy would be much better suited playing the 3.

I know I'm getting off topic, but we need to see a 9 man lineup next year. I know this may not be popular, but unless their is a drastic need for Nunge and Garza next year, they should redshirt. Let them as big men get a year to develop. It would have been beneficial to Kriener and Dailey this year. I know these guys want to play right away, but if the program can start stockpiling talent it will go a long way to long term success.

I agree with most of what you say except him being selfish. In fact, there are times I wish he would be more selfish and just take the ball to the rim. At times, he is too tentative and just passes the ball along as just a cog in the offense. With his athleticism, he really could become a hub which would also take a lot of pressure off of Bohannon (like last night).

I don't know what Fran will do about Brady. I just know he's not playing well right now, basically just filling minutes.
IMHO, Uhl's issue is that he doesn't understand his skillset and role. He wants to be a guard so badly but he just isn't one. He's not quick enough to play guarding but could use his skills (quickness as a forward) around the rim much like Cook has apparently learned to do cleaning up the trash and getting lots of rebounds and put backs.

Finally, I know Williams has some decent games and isn't a bad defender with his length but overall I personally cringe whenever he has the ball. Expand upon that, he's not a PG as he lacks the basketball IQ to sufficiently run the offense. The bad part is, I really was a Williams advocate prior to the season but he just didn't have enough growth between freshman and sophomore seasons.

I think this is the exact issue, and I wonder if it isn't from moving down the pecking order on the offensive end? Last year we had Jarrod and Pete, then... ... ? No one was a clear third option. This year, I think Uhl is generally always going to be the 4th or 5th option on the floor.

I think the pecking order is something like:
Jok
Cook
Bohannon (moves to #1a if he's hot)
Pemsl
Moss (unless he's shooting well, then they feed him)
Baer
Wagner
Ellingson
Uhl

So when he gets the ball, he's still adjusting to whether or not the situation is desperate enough (low shot clock) for him to either hoist a 3 or drive with his head down. He hasn't quite progressed to driving and dishing consistently, which would be a HUGE asset to his game. So now, the ball sticks when he catches on the perimeter, as he tries to figure out which option he can get the ball to.

In the first half, when Moss took the ball the length of the court and slashed into the lane for a basket, I thought immediately of the late Roy Marble. There was also a moment when Wagner did the same thing and reminded me of Roy. Nice memories.

I see Moss as much more similar to Roy Marble than Devyn Marble. Devyn was longer but not as athletic. Moss has that same ability as Roy in open court to get to the basket and finish. I think Moss has a better outside shot than Roy, doesn't have the midrange game that Devyn had.

So, now Moss is great and Ellingson stinks? I like both these guys and both are going to contribute in the future. Moss has a better upside, But Brady has some game too. His shot isn't falling right now, but he has shown flashes of being a terrific contributor. I think he's a winner.

Moss is still learning the college game but he is showing solid improvement over the course of the season. I think the sky is the limit for this young man and when it all comes together for him we are going to have a very special player.

Moss is a lot more athletic than Marble was. Marble had lot more ability to draw fouls.
Yea, I think if your comparing them, Moss has a better stroke then Dev in year two. By his junior year Dev started stroking it pretty good. Really belief that Moss will be one of the biggest keys for this team going forward. Pretty decent defender, can get to the rim, and finish in traffic, decent mid range game, and can be a threat from three. Really pumped about his future with the Hawks.

But Marble had great work ethic heard him and White spent the most time in the gym since freshman.

If moss can duplicate that then yes he might be better. I think marble was a smarter player though.

Shot 35% from 3 this year. So thats already there.

He actually needs to get better off the dribble. Hes great in the open court but in the half court he needs a little improvement.

His upside reminds me a bit of Ray Thompson. Hope he stays 4 years though unlike Ray.
A lot of fans forgot about Ray because he wasn't around too long but he was on track to be Iowa's GOAT. Moss looks to be a late bloomer but I don't recall a player with a higher ceiling than Isaiah Moss. Previous poster mentioned confidence, it's gonna snowball and he's gonna be a lottery pick

I actually think that Moss needs to tighten his handle as much as work on his feel in the half court. Too many times he's out on the break and momentarily loses his dribble and loses momentum. Luckily, he's gifted enough to still get to the rim, but once he puts it all together he's going to be unstoppable in the open court.
