Seemed like him and garner transfered to the same team, oral Roberts is coming to mind but I may be wrong. After that I have no idea.
Hunter had him arrested downtown?Ray Thompson.....could have been.....one of the greatest Hawkeyes of all.....ALL.....time. He didn't show promise. He showed he belonged from the very beginning. It makes my blood boil a little to have to remember this. Hunter Rawlings. Need I say more?
speaking of possibly greatest Hawkeye of all time that didn't play - don't forget about Connie Hawkins. He got shafted. Somebody claimed he could palm two basketballs at the same time, which I seriously doubt.Hunter had him arrested downtown?
Trey Bullet might be the greatest hawkeye who never played in basketball.
Trey was an absolute legend in Mississippi high school basketball. Automatic from 25 feet. Could handle the ball like it was attached to his hand. Hops like he was jumping off a trampoline. I'd say he compared pretty favorably to a combination of 'Pistol' Pete Maravich and David Thompson. Are you cereal? I honestly have no idea but he was nowhere near the Hawk's level. Nowhere.

Don't sleep on Robert "Spider" Ursery. You are kidding, right? I mean we had our share of one year guys back in the 1980's and 90's, but it wasn't like they left for the pros.
Curtis Cuthpert, Brian Boyle, Jeff Walker, Trey Bullet, Johnny Fort, Ray Thompson, shoot, I know there are more but this is getting to be 25-30 years ago. I don't remember Trey Bullett being considered much more than a cool name.
From what i understood, and i may be dense, Thompson was eligible under Big Ten standards. Iowa had their own elevated standards, thanks to Mr Ivy League Wannabe. And please, name me a player who hasn't been drunk and disorderly downtown. Name me a priest that hasn't. Or a Hawkeye announcer, for that matter.
I also remember reading an article years ago where Ray talked about how he had gotten his stuff together at Oral Roberts. Don't know if it stuck or not.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble here, but Iowa most definitely does have African American studies courses. They're not necessarily joke courses, but I don't know why you would throw out such a false statement.
And we most definitely let our athletes have breaks as students.
That is not, in any way, different from every other college or university in the world.Honestly, Iowa lets its student-students have breaks. There are some easier degrees there which allow a fair amount of leeway in choosing courses.
Yep I recall that now that "mr ivy league wannabe" lol wanted iowa to have tougher academic standards than the rest of the big ten and the uproar it was causing.(as u can c I probably would not have gotten in) That definitely was not a good thing for iowa athletes.
How bout marcelus (sp) Summerville

I'm not saying it is. I'm just saying that, with the academic help available to student athletes (especially with scheduling), anyone who qualifies for admission can probably succeed at Iowa. I think Fran and his staff have done a good job making that a priority and his players usually become tight-knit and they support each other. That is not, in any way, different from every other college or university in the world.
I think you are right. Go to class. Do your assignments, etc. Most classes that should get you at least a C. It's a little sad that grade inflation has come this far but it is the reality.I'm not saying it is. Here you go: http://www.sj-r.com/article/20080716/NEWS/307169897That's kinda what I was thinking on walker, what was the story on him? I have no recollection
one of my good friends was buddies with Walker so I played with him several times his first year. his J was a little funky but he was incredible. as good of an athlete as I've seen on the Iowa roster including Davis. just not as tall.
