Most productive hawkeye in the Ferentz era?

Yep, the best (Jewell could have an argument made as I think most here would agree he was pretty overlooked nationally for his last couple years) player on the team that finally got back to the Rose Bowl should count for something as well

Absolutely the Outlaw. Math Roth, Babs, Colin Cole, Greenway, Hodge, Kirksey.

Clayborn, Mitch f'ing King. Jovon Johnson, Spievey, Godfrey, Consodine, good Lord...Tyler Sash and Brett Greenwod. Angerer and Edds

Someone mentioned DJK - he made a lot clutch plays in big games. What about Stanzi? Tate? Stanzi 3-0 in bowl games and against the Cyclones,. What more can you ask for? Betts and the pounding he took. So many damn good players on great teams. Hard to quantify just one (for me at least)

To me the most productive players on Offense were
McNutt
DJK
Martin-Manley

Defense
Sanders
Jewell
Sash

The key word being productive. Had you said the most memorable, or flashiest, I'm sure the list would be a bit different. That is just my opinion. I'm sure there are others people feel were more productive.

This is an easy answer- the question is objectively asking most productive. That would simply be statistics and would have to include McNutt, Greene, Jewell, Des King, Scott Chandler, Roth/Clayborn, Sash, etc.
However, I think Ladell Betts is under rated because of the teams he played on. Dude ran for over a thousand yards with an awful OL a few times

Under the radar? Dude was 1st team All American, won the outland trophy and was drafted 3rd.
He was drafted #2 overall and at the time was the 2nd Iowa OL drafted in the 1st rd. He never came close to reaching the lofty expectations for him but he made a very nice living for the 7 years or so he got paid to play.

Loved watching Weisman. Just frustrating when we'd try to run him on a sweep or toss play. That wasn't where he was going to be effective. North and South with him... Pretty effective. Never forget him running over 3 Nebraska defenders on his was to a TD.... An awesome play!
one of the most frustrating players of ferentz's years. Not his fault...Just not used properly.

Career or single season? Single season is definitely Greene

Greene was a beast.

But after watching 20 years of KF led offenses, I'd throw Drew Tate leading Iowa to a Big Ten title and a bowl win over LSU with Sam Brownlee as starting RB for the 2nd half of the season.

When your leading rusher for the season has 227 rushing yards and no touchdowns and Iowa finishes 116th out of 117th in rushing - but you still win a Big Ten title...

Definitely would agree with Sanders. But the other guy from Erie - Jovon Johnson should be mentioned more... 4 year starter, 17 interceptions... only guys with more were Kinnick and Mitchell.

Lots of great players to choose from here obviously. For the record we are only referring to their time at Iowa not the success or lack thereof in the pros.
Sanders
Clark
Banks

Hodge
Clayborn
Daniels
Greene
Sash
Stanzi

Fant
Epenesa
Dwight

I know I am missing some names those were just some of the names I thought of to throw in the hat. Id love to hear everyones thoughts on this

To me I think it has to be Banks or Greene. I would probably go with Banks just because of the success of the program during his tenure.

If you had me pick a defender I would say Sanders for sure but I would also like to throw it out there that over the next year and a half Epenesa has a chance to be the greatest defender in the Ferentz era.

Too many to name. If you eat a can of beans can you tell which one made you fart?

DJK. Could you imagine having him on the team now? We would be completely different offensively.

If we are measuring productivity how has Ladell Betts not been mentioned. He lead the team in rushing 4 years in a row. Granted his first year was under Hayden, but he was the Hawkeyes for the first 3 years of the Ferentz era.
