It has been said over & over that Iowa needs someone who can distribute the ball, that can create their own shot, and can drive. Why not Joe W as a Point Forward??

Not the whole game(unless he turns out to be the bomb, of course), but maybe a third of his minutes.

Wieskamp can handle the ball well and has all the other intangibles. He is in the top 3 in about every category... He can handle pressure. He can be clutch. And he does not make too many mistakes. A good portion of his turnovers have been when in desperation, when we are not in the game.

I may be reaching here. But hey, Joe W is good... Don't knock it until you try it!

Thoughts?

Does this move mean we will get to see Conner at the point less? If so, count me in.

Yes. Until Connor finds his outside shot when he is wide open, we have to get creative. Or just write it off and wait until next year and we have Joe T with Joe W.

Joe doesn’t have the handles to be ball dominant right now. He’s best playing off ball, spot up shooting, and straight line driving close outs.

Sure is. Most teams don't have their center shooting 2 three's in a season..

Sure has killed Michigan( Mo Vagner 160 attempts) and Wisconsin ( Frank Kamiske 2 seasons over 100 attempt seasons) over the years hasn’t it? 2 3 point attempts???I’d bet there is not a team ahead of Iowa in B1G standings that has less than 10 attempts from their center position. Heck, Harms has 20 attempts and Bruno Fernando has even shot 8. Caleb Wesson, Nate Ruevers, John Teske all shot more 3s than Garza. Wait, I guess Iowa should pattern their game after Nebraska, Rutgers, Minnesota and Penn State the only B1G teams that “have their center shooting 2 three’s in a season”

I think he does the best coming off of screens and attacking. He’s only Freshman, I like what he is bringing to the table as a guard. The other guys not so much. Moss used to come off of screens attacking, now he catches and tries to dribble way to much. Connor is the same as Moss, too much dribbling and standing.

I don’t know about JW playing the point forward but I sure do want to see him be more aggressive on offense. I would rather see him shoot a contested shot than Garza quick shooting threes or cook shooting outside of 5ft. Bohannon has to pull the trigger more too, he was hesitant last game and passed up shots. Win or lose today, I want to see this team play aggressive on both ends and want to see JBo and JW lead the team in shot attempts. Cook and Garza need to reestablish the post, draw fouls and kick out to others for open shots.

Oh, this team better show a heartbeat on defense too! Is that asking too much?

Point Forward. Not power forward.... But maybe with a small lineup? Cook at the 5, JBo, Moss and Dailey or Baer?

So if you're saying that if we start calling Joe a Point Forward then he can drive and distribute the ball? So what exactly is keeping him from do that now?
