And that's not a bad thing for the Hawkeyes, even if it keeps Iowa out of the top 4 this week. After all, wouldn't you rather have it be #3 MSU against #5 Iowa in the BTCG than the other way around?

Sparty has Jim Delany (sp?) gritting his teeth this year:
Losing to nebby? really?
Beating media darling OSU
Losing to (supposed inferior West division) champ Iowa in the B10 title game

It's a little comical with all the talk for the past 12 weeks that O$U 'isn't playing to their potential'. Now MSU are world beaters for squeaking out a win over them.

You know what? OSU isn't that great of a 'team' and proved it last night.

I like Iowa's chances against anyone in the east, I'm more worried about the Fuskers - they got nothing to lose.

Without the best QB in the Big Ten! That was quite a performance. Reminded me of the one in '09 that Vandenberg couldn't finish.

It depends on whether you view a team using it's #2 and #3 QB beating a team that could only muster 132 total yards at home against a defense that gave up 39 points and 499 yards to Nebraska means anything.

What exactly did MSU accomplish yesterday? Beat the 4th best B10 team? 5th best?

Hardly matters who the opponent is or what they have done. We have to win the next 2 regardless to be in the final four and I am not sure we can do that. It's really tough to run the table. We are now 1 of the last 2 undefeated teams. Think about that for a second and who saw this coming before the season except bar room Johnny lit up on fireball.

Ty Willingham, who coached at Stanford, Notre Dame, and Washington, played on the MSU team that beat #1 Ohio State back in 1974 in a last minute thriller then (16-13), serves on the playoff selection committee too. I'm sure this game has him thinking back on that game too then like it did me since I attended it with my dad then. So if Iowa beats MSU, I'm guessing that will help Iowa in the final placement too with someone like him on the committee. In that game it wasn't the OSU players that blew up after the game, but Woody Hayes, who punched an MSU fan on his way out of the stadium.

Yes, it's hard to run the table. But it is WAY easier once you've won the first eleven.

I was just coming to this site to describe MSU as the new Flavor of the Week. And I agree with your post. It only inures to Iowa's benefit to have MSU rocket up the charts.
