  • National Media still doesn't think much of Iowa and poll numbers will reflect it

  • As always, the game will likely come down to line play and turnovers. MSU has been dominating opponents on both sides of the ball recently.

  • Ball security-they flow to the ball very quickly. This is not the time to get stood up and fight for a half yard, and end up getting hit from a weird angle and fumble. If it's for a first down, then yes fight for it. If not, play smart and protect the football.

  • Make them earn everything-No fumble or interception returns for TD's, no special teams TD's. Make them drive the field with a QB that might not be 100%

  • But, we can't leave the Defense out on the field all game like we did against Nebraska. They need to get off the field. Been giving up way too many conversions on 3rd and longs.

  • Their backs must be tackled. They run very hard. If we are going to neutralize their running game, we must tackle well.

  • CJ needs to make good decisions. Take what is there. If he is healthy enough to run, he may need to at times. But, be smart when he does. Don't take unnecessary hits. Frustrate them with not being able to hit you.

  • Play good, smart, disciplined Iowa football. But, not overly conservative.

  • FINISH

Pretty much sums it up. And CJ needs to TUCK it when he takes off running. Can't afford any turnovers in this one.

I hope/expect to see some misdirection from us to make their defense pay for over-pursuing. They'll be flying to the football and selling out to shut down our run game. Would love to see another TE throw-back against these guys, a few reverses, some screens, etc. Need to change it up in our offensive play-calling and make them pay for pinning their ears back and over-pursuing. Also hoping we get the TE's involved in a big way.
