Oh Ferentz

If they had just started the season with Sully in the Red zone package, that might have been enough to beat ISU. I think we kicked
two FGs because we couldn't finish drives.

OSU game doubtful we will with Sully, obviously closer

MSU....that game might have been a tossup. Hard to say we would beat MSU because our defense didn't make them punt.
It's also possible that our defense might have played a little more inspired with Sully taking the snaps.

Kirk’s lapdogs will be around next week to point out how nobody complaining is giving him any credit for making the change.
Yeah that's what nobody understands, is that KF DIDN'T get anything wrong with any of those QB situations. In fact, he chose the PERFECT time to make the change. Had he tried starting Banks or Stanzi or Beathard or Sully or any of the others any earlier than he did, they simply weren't ready to be the starter. His timing on all of them was perfect.

You guys are so f****d in the head.

This is getting like bhgp is now. Lotta people must need therapy and can't afford it, so come here to complain the day and night away. Because we are obviously national title contender every year.
I dunno. There's a few folks here do more than just spent 3 hours each fall Saturday watching Iowa football. Some donate a portion of their paychecks for the betterment of the Iowa football program, and when they see the CEO of the Iowa football program not using the resources at his disposal as effectively he could, I could see why the more generous donors might take that rather personally.

Kirk = 1980s Coca Cola leadership (i.e. New Coke fiasco)

He is better than 1980s Coca Cola executives. He is not perfect, but is better than that.

Bowl games will continue to count, I know I will enjoy any Bowl victory !
Well, sure. They will count in the record and the networks will build them up but neither team that plays in them is going to be a good representation of the teams that played during the season. Not unless bowl games start opening up the wallets and paying players to play in the games. If they do that then they might carry a bit more weight.

First, the New Coke fiasco was one of the greatest marketing mistakes made in business history. Coke cemented their stake as #1 soft drink maker by double digits when Pepsi was narrowing the gap prior to launch. Hence, Classic Coke. :)

Second, there is no going back to McNamara unless there is an injury to Sullivan. None. Pay him out and wish him well. Keep him on the roster because the QB room is depleted. Given the body of work, albeit a small sample size, even Kirk would have a nearly impossible job of explaining why he would bring back a stone statue of a QB who is damaged goods and directly responsible for each and every Iowa turnover in 2024 (5 INT, 2 FUM). No one else on the 105-man roster has turned the ball over.

Note that I said nearly impossible. Sometimes Kirk is just gonna Kirk. That's Iowa football.

Maybe we should have just lost instead? Might be less pitching from some of you. Some of you are so miserable you find ways to be unhappy with a 42-10, W over Wisconsin.
Aren't you "pitching" about others? What is the difference exactly other than a different subject? I have yet to hear/read anyone say they were displeased with the victory.

Let not forget KF is only a 63% win coach nothing overly special yes he has over 200 wins but over 100 loses.
I don't think he does anything special. He just has some good support people who have carried him
I think KF is an excellent administrator and leader but his blind spot appears to be making talent calls in specialized positions. The loyalty he breeds is unquestionably excellent. If he would evolve to let his coordinators be more autonomous he could lead for another 3-5 years and really achieve something.
That’s a huge IF!
Come on Kirk!!

Kirk doesn't have a great football mind---he's a CEO type head coach that meddles too much on the Offensive side of the ball where his stubborness/overconfidence/over estimation of his own abilities ends up hurting. If it had been up to Kirk, he would have trotted Brian out as the OC again for this year.

There is something to be said for sticking with a long-term head coach and the stability it brings from not having to do wholesale system changes/ missed recruiting classes with lame duck head coach. I would say Hayden Fry had the better football mind/ability/charisma if you compare that two coaches Iowa has had for past forty years.

You are a fool if you lack the awareness of how much more difficult it is to win at Iowa compared to places like Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, etc. That is why Kirk’s record at Iowa is much more impressive than what Bo or Woody Hayes accomplished. Half of the people who post here could win if they were the coach at Ohio State or Michigan. I am retired and the only coaching I have done is Rec league sports when my kids were growing up, but I am sure I could recruit 4* and 5* football players to those schools and average 9 or 10 wins per year. Those who don’t recognize Kirk’s accomplishments lack awareness of the past and present state of college football. There certainly isn’t and hasn’t been a level playing field and there never will be. Kirk has been the right guy for the Hawkeye football program.

I agree. But I also don't think you'd win 9 or 10 games a year at Ohio State or Michigan.

I disagree why is it hard here at Iowa then any where else. Tired of hear the Iowa location means we can not compete.
We don't compete not because of lack of talent we don't compete because of bad schemes and not adjusting.
Being innovative would bring wins and players. KF is not innovative

Our run game looks even better when you play a QB that can be a threat. Granted Sullivan isn’t passing the ball all over but he can run and make plays. The defense isn’t able to focus 100% on the running back every play.
Don’t understand how they kept playing a QB that couldn’t pass or run.
Whisky played at 3-3-5 D LOL vs Iowa, a team that cannot pass lol sometimes you wonder if the coaching in the Big 10 is worse than the awful officiating.
