I don’t follow basketball that closely, so forgive me if I say something stupid. Just noticing how great Keagan has been this year. He didn’t even start last year right? That’s incredible, what kind of off-season workouts and training did he do to pass the McCaffery boy?

He/KM is just more skilled and physically stronger IMO, but I am sure they both put in the time practicing.

PMac has a unique set of skills imo but still needs to get stronger. I bet he works at that all the time. Kris will test the NBA interest in him I bet and then decide what’s best for him, (in other words how much he could move up in the draft if he plays another year at Iowa). Rebraca needs to practice his outside shot, as it’s better for the Hawks if the 5 can shoot from deep . Tony P has had a great run and seems really confident and focused right now. Good things will be expected from him next year. JoeT and Ullis had great experiences this season. So if our Bigs can give us good minutes next season, I’ll be very pleased with the results. Also love our recruits to add depth. Hawkeyes seem to be in a really good place

Makes you wonder what would have happened if Fran would have added the Murrays to Garza, Wieskamp, Jobo and said I’ll see you guys in the Locker room at halftime……

Keegan and Kris did what they do every off season. First they were in the gym with me the day after losing to Oregon last year. They worked on their weaknesses. Developed consistency in their outside shot through repetition, stayed in the weight room to add 15+ lbs to their frame, played one on one to improve their offensive/defensive skill set and along with their teammates, developed a trust amongst each other to be "connected" on the floor. It is an easy formula, but how many players are willing to do this 6-7 days a week?? I always told the boys, "give me 45 minutes of laser focus on what we need to work one and after that you can do whatever you want in the gym." To be good and continue to work on your craft, you have to have a passion and love to be in the gym. They have never lost the fire to be the best they can be. They have balance in their life with friends, family and extracurricular activities (golf, travel, etc). I never wanted to "burn them out" so I only went to the gym when they "wanted to". Lucky for me, that was 6-7 days a week.

So cool that you post here! Love insight and such a wonderful family! Enjoy the March run and hope it never ends! So blessed to have your sons on this team.

Sounds like they kept the passion for basketball and stayed disciplined to the task at hand. Having that plus the size and talent has taken both to great heights. I hope it continues throughout their lives in whatever else they choose to do after basketball. It’s been fun watching them and the rest of the Hawkeyes this season. Thank them from me
