My Mount Rushmore of sports announcers.

Kevin Harlan is my favorite right now. Shocked to not see much Al Michaels on people's list. Ernie Harwell was a Tigers legend. Hubie Brown for the NBA. Not sure I could make a list because their are so many I love.

Harry Kalas was a truly great baseball announcer; listened to many many games on the radio with him over the years. Jon Miller did a great imitation of the Kalas family dinner table. (And of course his other imitations...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gUBuUX_YXo)

Come to think of it, Philly has another radio gem, in football, in Merle Reese. Very distinctive voice, great cadence and intonation that can have you on the edge of your seat for mundane plays. ("Randall back in the pocket, he pumps once, pumps twice, he FLOATS it downfield and....iiiincomplete")

I always Ken Venturi and Johnny Miller doing golf. Old timers…..can anyone top Henry Longhurst…..or the iconic Peter Allis?
Venturi was genuinely great as an announcer…..nice guy and very knowledgeable……Miller was brutally honest, ascerbic and passionate about the game….Longhurst and Allis were brilliant wordsmiths with accents…and genuinely funny me who really loved what they were doing.

I’m putting Peter Aliss on my list over Nantz.

So now it’s
Harry Kalas
Merrill Reese
Keith Jackson
Peter Aliss

Keith Jackson, John Madden, and Pat Summerall had that iconic and soothing nostalgic sound.

One name I haven’t seen mentioned is Jim Lampley. Has called some great boxing bouts.

I don't think he will make many MRs, but my favorite play by play guy growing up was Mike Patrick- especially for basketball.
