NATO toast?

Sounds like Trump and Putin cutting a deal on Ukraine in Saudi Arabia next week.
Europeans not invited. Europeans holding an emergency NATO meeting without the US next week? It seems to be a matter of time.
So then it sounds like only the NATO members who are current in their dues can attend the emergency meeting…

Ukraine isn't in NATO and neither is Russia... These things aren't related.

Personally I wish Trump would just stay out of the Ukraine/Russia negotiations and let them figure it out with Europe, but I guess we put more money in than anyone else and we'll want a piece of the outcome.

My guess... we'll have a base in Ukraine when this is done.

It may come to that.

It seems as if shared values are decreasing by the day. Americans are mostly center-right while Europe has turned decidedly left.
No America is not mostly center right. It is a pretty balanced spectrum. Trump has a bit over 50% approval and that is only because a bunch of feckless independents who aren’t tuned in like the tweets. Let’s not pretend Trump has “most” of us supporting him.

No need to pretend. Dems are the party of no Commonsense. Bill maher gave the dems this nickname..

Ukraine has put more into this than anyone else yet have no seat at the table where their future is being "negotiated". There is no "Ukraine/Russia negotiations". And you and yours are ok with that in deference to Vladimir Putin.

The Ukrainians have said they wont do a deal where they are not involved and if they are getting screwed.

Trump cant suck putins "mike johnson" with Zelensky in the room which is why putin-trump meeting in secret.

Trump was pretty clear about multiple meetings being required to wind this down and the Saudis Arabia meeting was meant to be a neutral ground spot to get conversations going on this. He said he'd have 1 on 1 meetings with zalenski separately before all parties meet at the table together. Trump wants mineral rights to recoup the money the us tax payer "gifted" them

Donald Trump is a Russian asset and always has been. Pepperidge Farm still remembers Helsinki and how he behaved towards Putin then along with threatening NATO constantly his first term.

Musk is too. They are both massively morally corrupt people and compromised.

Told them to quit neglecting the agreement, made a decade earlier, to spend more for their own defense.

You’re equating an accounting issue with the destruction of the NATO alliance?
'Accounting issue'?

You think you snap fingers and have an army, or an air force?
It's years and years of sufficient investment to create military.
I don't know why you feel it important to obfuscate what Trump called out, which was their neglect of their agreement, and their duty to be able to protect their own citizens from the threats on their doorstep, not ours.
We don't have a huge military to protect us from Canada and Mexico, we have it to protect Europe, South Korea, Japan, and Middle Eastern nations. They can damn sure carry their share of the cost.

You either believe in the NATO alliance or you
don’t. You don’t. The NATO alliance is in fatal condition. Don’t hide behind your bullshit numbers

That's just it, the numbers aren't bullshit, they're objective evidence of the European's neglect of their duties, and their reliance on putting a disproportionate burden on American citizens.
If you 'believe in the NATO alliance' do you make an agreement in 2006 to increase defense spending to 2% and by 2014 find only three members having done so? In 2023 it was still only 10 members meeting the 2% agreement. Not even half!
You shouldn't need to guess who one of those members was in 2014.

You’re an accountant. You don’t get the big picture, or you are willfully ignorant it.
