Nats 100 points 2017?

What are our chances?

We return
Gilman 21.5 pts
Clark 17 pts
Sorensen 17 pts
Meyer 6 pts
Brooks 7 pts
Total of 68.5

Assuming absolutely no improvement on point totals (and I do think that most if not all returners will improve at least a little bit on point total) Then we need 31.5 Points from Turk/Carton, Kemerer, Marinelli, Holloway/Paddock/Wilcke, and Stoll. (Will be interesting to see how 141-197 shakes out with the final lineup). I don't think expecting 100 points is absurd at all, I myself expect over 100 points.

I agree with you for the most part, but for the time being, I'm going to invoke my "Missouri Clause", as in Show Me......................;)

As we all know, the point total from 2016 was misleading. If Stoll doesn't blow out his knee against Gwiz, he scores at least 10 points at Nationals, and probably more. So when considering the returning 68 or so, I really consider that we're returning about 80, including Stoll. I have little doubt Sam will score at least 12 or so next spring, and I have great faith that the other guys will go way over 20 combined. Like Lax, I see us well over 100 next year.

2/3 of 81 is 54.
Then add? Not impossible but it's a long way.
No, he means 2/3rds of 100. They return 68 points, which is the 2/3rds he is talking about. I can easily see Iowa getting to 100 with Stoll returning to form and Marinelli/Kemerer added to the mix.

The biggest factor, IMO, is health. A healthy Hawkeye team looks good for 100+, but when was the last time that happened (being healthy at NCAAs, not 100+)? Of course, Iowa could go over 100 and still finish 3rd or 4th next year. Its going to be loaded at the top.

No it won't. How our studs do will make or break us at nationals.
True. But if we're talking winning the team title and every team wrestles to their current seed, Iowa will still be short. That's why we need a breakout season at 41 and even 97
This year is gonna take every. single. weight. to be competitive.

Here some thought that might be a little black and gold colored but here goes.

Gilman wins it next year. If he stays healthy Nobody scares me.
Clark wins it. Only Richards and Brock(if he makes it back down) concern me here.
Turk should qualify and is probably a Rd of 12 type wrestler with a outside shot at AA.
Sorensen to the finals where he loses to Retherford again.
Kemmerer, ok this is where my black & gold glasses come out. I believe that he will be in the finals against Nolf. Honestly believe this Smith could knock him off to wrestle for 3rd but Kemdawg is gonna shock a lot of people next year.
Marinelli??? If it's him I think he is in that 4-8 range but we'll have to wait and see..
Meyer, this is where it gets REAL interesting. Meyer drives me nuts. He could finish as high as 5th or be a rd of 12 type wrestler let's just say he gets 7th for now.
Brooks, another one that needs to peak at the right time. He could be wrestling on Saturday night or be a rd of 12 type. 184 is brutal there are about 6 guys that could be wrestling and losing to Dean on Saturday night. But for now let's say he gets 6th.
Holloway, well I hope he qaulifies and wins a match or two.
Stoll, I think he uses last year as motivation and finds himself getting 4th with some bonus pts along the way.

So in conclusion yes I think we get more than 100 pts and if Oky St. can get the right lineup out there I truely believe Iowa & Oky St. will be in a dog fight to win it all next year!!

Spoons, I think those are pretty reasonable predictions. I don't see a whole lot in there that's overly black-and-gold-colored. Sounds pretty realistic to me. I'm not sure Meyer holds 174, but if he does, I could see things playing out like this.

100 points or a smidgeon more could win Nationals in 2017. Heck, 2 teams won with less than 100 in the past 10 years! My logic is that parity will spread the scoring...and 2016-17's early look suggests Iowa, Okie State, Ohio State, PSU, Virginia Tech, Missouri, Cornell, and others will be fighting for points.
