Yeah that projection is bad. Rhode Island is 13-15 so they shouldn’t be in. Also Charlotte is 26-10 and ranked, so last 4 in is bad.

Yeah, Rhode Island is 13-15-1. They aren’t eligible with that record.

So what was the final explanation for no post season Big 10 tourney? Being from Omaha, LOVED going to this, well, more so than last time when Iowa went 2 and BBQ and had 1 run in 2 game but that's beside the point!

I approve of this! Keep it up Hawks! Just think if Dreyer was healthy and pitching. What do we need this weekend, 2/4 or need 3/4?

Great info thanks for assembling doing some great bball reporting! Indiana has a crazy bad RPI yet good conf. record. Lots of currently out bubble teams with 75+ RPIs which will probably keep them out unless they win their conf, which I believe is AQ for postseason for P5 teams, no?

Schedule wise, Indiana series looms large then a bunch of games with mid to lower pack B10 teams, need to pile up series wins and we should punch ticket to regionals.

I’m thinking split with Maryland and beat Northwestern both times is what we need. I think that’s also very attainable.

I don’t know that there has been one. Pretty stupid actually, and Iowa went 2 and Q two times ago. They beat Indiana in game one last time before dropping two straight. I can’t let Cole McDonalds gem start go unnoticed.

I agree with @KyleHuesmann on 3/4 with both wins against NW. A home loss to a team with their RPI really really hurts. If you’re going to drop a game or two against those RPIs then it needs to be on the road, it’ll still hurt a lot but not like at home.

Why no baseball conference tournament? The commish is that much of a douche?

My guess is that it has to do with everyone already playing each other during the regular season. 44 conference games compared to the usual 24.

Makes sense, would've been nice to see just a few non conf games, Iowa usually plays a tourney or two in late Feb against some RPI strong teams like last year.

Iowa plays series against strong RPI teams since Heller has arrived. They’ve had a home against Okie State, UC Irvine came to Iowa City, UNLV even though they ended up being down, last year there were excellent tournaments, midweek vs Missouri. Better than playing Western Illinois seven times.

So Iowa’s RPI is at 40 today, Maryland is 98. Iowa wins and they gain 17 points, lose and they lose 84 points. Perspective is this, and before other teams play which can and will impact RPI. A win moves Iowa to 37-38, while a loss drops you to 46-47. That is before other games are factored in. As it stands now, Nebraska, Ohio State are Iowa’s best friends.

This will also show you how weighted road games are vs home homes, I am putting RPI by each team.

#46 Nebraska @ #243 Michigan State - Nebraska wins they get 14 points, lose they lose 71 points.

#173 Penn State @ #54 Ohio State - OSU wins they lose 7 points, lose they lose 116 points.

So Iowa needs to protect home field, and win more on the road than they lose. If you’re going to lose to MSU or NW, the road is much better. Iowa’s hairy stretch is the home games vs PSU and Illinois.

UPDATE: d1 Baseball's projections are out. Iowa's status is now more tenuous. Now listed as one of the last 5 teams getting a bid: https://d1baseball.com/postseason/projected-field-of-64-may-4/

Doesn't d1 Baseball release its updated NCAA Baseball Tournament Projections on Tuesdays? I don't see an update today.

Pretty sure that Baseball America releases its updates on Wednesdays.

I'm just curious to read how this past weekend's games may have impacted both publications' views on Iowa's chances.

If Iowa and Maryland finish within a game or two of one another, I don’t see how you’d give Maryland a bid over Iowa.

Also, college sports madness projects ONE team from the conference making a regional this week. I think this site is a major outlier, but still interesting. I don’t think people know how to predict the B1G due to lack of a non conference.

I would riot if they put just one Big Ten team in. 4 looks to be likely and I could see 5 if Rutgers or Maryland keeps rolling.

Baseball America has Iowa in, they are listed as one of the “last four in”. Rutgers and Maryland listed as “next four out”.

Iowa is projected at #3 national seed Vanderbilt.

1. Vanderbilt
4. Bryan

2. Clemson
3. Iowa
