Bubble team Syracuse just lost to bubble team Pitt, 72-71. In the aftermath, I found this tweet posted on the ESPN site from one its reporters: "Committee chair Joe Castiglione today said consideration will be given to the games that Jim Boeheim was suspended for. Cuse was 4-5 without him, 15-8 with him."
What?
The coach was SUSPENDED, but the losses during that suspension may be mitigated by the committee so Syracuse might make the tourney anyway?! What kind of logic is that?
If a player is injured and that's taken into account, fair enough. But a suspended coach?
How about considering that some team's best fans may have had to miss a few games. That should be a mitigating factor, right?
Damn. Can't anybody do anything that's actually fair and that makes sense any more? ANYBODY? Or am I wrong to think the committee chair is nuts?
