NCAA Wrestling sites through 2022

Auburn Hills < Albany < Des Moine < Kansas City < St Louis

Kansas City had the best food. Des Moine was too small. St. Louis is easy transportation but Union Station has declined.

Des Moines may be a tad too small but the fan fest and sky walk system is better than any other location by far. As stated, Union Station is declining and will probably be worse next time around.

KC was 2003, out at Kemper. Sprint Center would be a pretty good venue, given the proximity of food/drink/hotels.
I liked KC for a number of reasons (had a Suite that year), would go back there for sure. Iowa didn't fare too well that year, but we had a good time anyway. And the ISU debacle with Mocco and Coleman was a sight to behold as well (Mocco won the whole shebang that year).

Did my 1st bull riding in the bar at some local watering hole as well. No broken bones, a few bruises, but all good! Closer down the road to KC than St. Louis (from Twin Cities), and I do business with folks in KC so could possibly do a combo business/pleasure trip!

The following is a post from Jason Bryant on the BWI board discussing the stadium setup when MN has nationals.

Talked to a few people in regards to the Minneapolis bid on my Minnesota-based (state, not the school) podcast with The Guillotine

http://www.theguillotine.com/gg28

Talked with a Sr. Associate AD in charge of event management with UM, along with Eggum. Mack Reiter provided some pretty good insight into vantage point and things to do, while I had one of my buddy's dad's on at the end talking about the impact on the local fans of wrestling. His company is a big supporter/sponsor of The Clash.

So keep in mind this show is based for the Minnesota wrestling fan, but I had many of the same questions you did.

I live 13 minutes from U.S. Bank Stadium and everything I've heard about the configuration has been positive. And no, don't expect the mats to be dead center and the 66K to be open. We talked about that in the show.

Tried to get the outside traveler situation in the main parts of the show. Also, average temperature in Minneapolis the third weekend in March hovers around 44. It was warmer in Minnesota the first three days I was in St. Louis than it was in St. Louis this
year.

Have to take JB's comments on the weather as fact. If anyone follows him on twitter they know when it comes to the weather in Minnesota, nobody knows it like him.

Dam Mn weather is so unpreditable like this year we had better weather in Jan than April this year. Heck might get snow this week and is last week in April..My birthday is May 2nd and we have had snow on that day...Can be high 70's one day and then be only 30 the next day..

Don't know if this will help you but the NCAA basketball final 4 was held at the old Metrodome in Mpls in I think 1992. Attendance for the final game was 45,000 give or take. I would think a similar configuration would be available at the new stadium that replaced the dome.

I wonder if they will ever move the season like the coaches recommended last year. That way cities wouldn't have to choose between bidding on the wrestling or basketball tournament and could even host both in a year. KC would be awesome and Omaha was a good time even though it was a bit of a cluster getting in and out, but they both bid on basketball each year.

I was at that Final Four, and at many Basketball Regionals in the Metrodome as well. I hope like hell it isn't configured like a Final Four. The wrestlers would look like ants, and the place would look deserted. That would be bad, real bad.

Throw the mats in the end zone on the side of the building away from the big glass doors, have viewing for about 20K and call it good.
