probably seeded like this:
1. Dean
2. Brooks or Nickal
3. Brooks or Nickal
4. Martin
?
Interesting question cuz Brooks beats Martin, Martin beats Nickal (in most recent matchup and on biggest stage, anyway), Nickal beat Brooks. Any way Nickal slips to 4th seed?

whoops, duplicate thread. sorry boyz

That or Nickal 3 and Martin 6 would be a best case scenario for Brooks.

Sorry Reddog, but Martin won't get near 3rd or 4th. He has 8 losses, and Boyd, Zavatsky, Nickal, Brooks, and Dean are all more deserving of the top 4 spots in some order. Doesn't mean I'm right, but Martin in the top 4 would stun me.

With hat tip to pointtheway in the other thread:

1 - Dean 29-0
Wins: Boyd (2), Zatavsky, Martin, Gravina

2 - Nickal 21-1
Wins: Brooks, Martin, Dudley, Gravina, Parker (2)
Losses: Martin

3 - Brooks 24-2
Wins: Boyd, Martin (2), Jackson (2), Gravina, Macchiavello
Losses: Nickal, Jackson

4 - Zatavsky 24-2
Wins: Martin, Macchiavello, Miklus (inj)
Losses: Dean, Macchiavello

5 - Dudley 25-4
Wins: Jackson, Dechow, Macchiavello, Parker
Losses: Nickal (2), Martin (2)

6 - Jackson 30-3
Wins: Brooks, Gravina, Renda (RS), Parker (2)
Losses: Brooks (2), Dudley

7 - Boyd 21-4
No quality wins, Best wins are #14 Geer and #15 Foster
Losses: Dean (2), Nickal, Brooks

8 - Dechow 28-3
Wins: Martin, Macchiavello (2), Gravina, Miklus (inj)
Losses: Dudley, Foster, Baker

9 - Macchiavello 25-6
Wins: Zatavsky, Martin, Parker
Losses: Brooks, Zatavsky, Dudley, Dechow, Daniel

10 - Martin 26-8
Wins: Nickal, Dudley (2), Parker
Losses: Dean, Nickal, Brooks (2), Zatavsky, Macchiavello, Renda (RS), Dechow

11 - Parker 27-8
Wins: Gravina
Losses: Jackson (2), Nickal (2), Martin, Dudley, Macchiavello, Reed

12 - Gravina 19-9
Wins: Renda (RS)
Losses: Dean, Nickal, Brooks, Jackson, Dechow, Stevenson, Parker, Renda (RS)

When you factor that 45% of your seed comes from record and ranked opponents and/or common opponents and only 10% from a title, Martin will be lucky to sniff 6th with his conference title. It will be interesting to see how much weight a title is to seeding.

This applies to Clark & Sorensen as well. Defending Champ/runner up has a lot of pull guys.

My money's on slicone. I'd trust an algorithm before I trust how someone feels about something.

I'll add a hell no. Maybe with multiple losses, but 1 loss by 2 points and that's to someone he split with - plus pins of several of the top 10. Seeding him 4th would be insane.

Brooks/Nickal 2/3. I'm leaning Brooks for now - might think differently if Nickal majored/teched Brooks instead of the quick pin if that makes sense.

I'll give Martin credit for wrestling everyone unlike many of his Buckeye brethren but he took way too many losses to sniff top 4.

It doesn't make sense. They both had similar records, opponents and margin of victory. So, you give the edge to the person that won head to head.

The only reason was if they value the conference title more - that's my thinking.

That said, any SANE process has those two opposite Dean in the 2 and 3 slots. The Martin at 3 predictions are lunacy - they must think Herbstreit's on the seeding committee.

I don't think there's a right answer in this scenario. Great wrestlers will match up in the quarters and semis which will make this the best bracket if the tourney. My opinion is the conference title and recent results hold more weight. Regardless we will definitely have something to talk about...you get what you earn!

This is the meat of it. No matter how its sliced, Clark and Brooks have to be ready to wrestle in the quarters.

I think this is a bad match up for Sammy. He has never been able to score much on Dechow. Sammy has improved and Dechow has not been as good since injury last year, but his defense still makes for a bad match up.

It shouldn't be a problem if the officials somewhat enforce the rules. Dechow likes to back off the mat against Sammy.

Agree however; how many backing off the mat was called at Big Tens? It is a sad deal when some of the matches are won or lost by officals.

He catches him walking in. Has very good head hands defense and locks in a wizzer like we used to do in the old days.
