NCAA's in Vegas?

It seems like a no brainer to me. Could have the makings for the biggest NCAA's ever in terms of national spotlight. For generations NCAA has been seriously opposed to hosting any official events in the City of Sin for reasons beyond understanding. But times they are a changing. After the NFL finally woke up to the cash cow that is spots spetting it appears the NCAA has finally received the message.

Las Vegas hosts 4 conference basketball tournaments here and has for a while and they are all a huge success. PAC 12, MWC, PCC, and WCC all have their tournaments here every year now. Because the individual conferences have total autonomy as to where they hosted their events the NCAA couldn't say shit about it. But this year Las Vegas will host the West Regional for NCAA MBB and in 2028 we will host the final four. I think we're scheduled for the NCAA football final in a couple years and I read something that 9 other NCAA finals will be hosted here in the coming years but it didn't stipulate which ones. I have to believe wresting will be one of them but I don't know for sure. I imagine somebody here will know. But I'd be curious what the people around here would think about hosting the finals here at the T-Mobile? As far as fan experiences go, as demonstrated by the PAC 12 tournament which is held there every year, fans can stay at any one of a half dozen or so resorts all within easy walking distance of that venue, which also happens to be the home of the UFC and major Boxing events. It's perfect. And considering we host the Cliff Keen every year at the convention center, and hosted the Sr. Worlds here a few years ago at the Orleans. This town is practicaly Taylor Made for this event. Hell we can even get Bruce Buffer to announce the finals on Saturday night. That'd be cool as shit. And hopefully the Hawks can raise the trophy when it's all said and done.

I suppose the only potential downside would be the pacific coast time zone for the sake of TV but I wonder if the wrestlers might actually like it to start an hour or so earlier. Especially on Saturday. But I'm sure they've had the finals in the PST before no?

Plus Vegas is big enough in terms of visitors that they won’t jack the hotel prices up just because of the tourney.
They won’t Jack rates for wrestling tourney but for opening week of March madness they always Jack the rates up for the bball gamblers.
Unless now that gambling is becoming legal in more states is Vegas less popular on that weekend?

It would be fun though.

^^^^^This.

I have been in Vegas during NCAA basketball tourney. The room rates do get raised, so wrestling fans would experience higher rates. But there are many, many options off the Strip.

The sports book during games is freaking awesome.

There would be several venues available if they schedule it 4-5 years ahead. Don't know that they ever schedule that far out, tho.
T-Mobile Arena, Allegiant Stadium, or Thomas/Mack Arena.

Maybe...My rememory doesn't work so good. It was where the all the fancy stuff is now, down by the river.

What a weird tournament. 4 finalists in first 5 weights and Zadick with the huge upset of #1 Wright then gutting through back side to get 3rd... but not much else.

MN got 10 AA and ran away.

Modified schedule for TV meant finals were in the afternoon which led to a St Patty's Day Saturday night drunk fest, culminating at strip bar.

I would…
I would too and F the strip, I would stay on Fremont. Vegas, wrestling, gambling, and booze might be the best combination out there. Sure as hell am not going to miss that but as opposed to dtripp26 I would plan on paying the ultimate oblivion price for that trip.

If everyone is nice IAchief said he would supply the eight ball and hookers in the Iowa suite 🤣

All the more reason to move the wrestling weekend away from NCAA hoops tourney weekends.

Sheesh…You weren’t supposed to put that out on the street. But yea…Vegas used to be like a 2nd home. Just thinking about the times I had there gives me withdrawal symptoms.

I don’t know. Basketball was my first sport and I didn’t start watching wrestling until the last 8 years (honestly I get more excited about wrestling now).
That weekend is amazing when we have 3-4 TVs on with bball and the other 2-3 TVs with wrestling on.
My nephew gets in the zone and knows to stream all the Iowa mats, UNI, and other B1G matches. It’s a work of art.
The greatest 4 days in sports.
