New Nebraska AD Bill Moos on #Huskers in the #B1G: "You’ve got Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh thinking, ‘We better put a little more into that Nebraska game coming up.’ And that's the way we want it. They're running a little bit scared right now."

I'm not going to fact check that quote, I'll go ahead and trust you. Some Hawk fans on here will say they wish Barta was aggressive like that. I actually think knowledgeable Hawk fans believe Frost will improve Nebraska's W-L loss record. I do. While Nebraska fans will love that quote, that is really irresponsible. Here's my quote, Moos is a dumb ass.

Sounds like something our buddy up in Ames would do. Up until now, I thought Moos was a good hire. Now I have to wonder. I mean I guess he's standing behind his guys, (all good), but see no point in rattling Urban's cage. Frost better bring some D next year or Meyer may feel the need to drop 70 on the shuckers, just because........

I love it. The Iowa response that is. It is a true statement... that was on the front end of a tongue and cheek joke. The mature folks will laugh it off. The dumb will try to make hay. To Hawk fans: a word to the wise ain't necessary - it's the stupid ones that need help..

I don’t care to get into some internet fight but what exactly do you mean? Was he joking?

I'll bet you think UCF is the FBS national champion. I'll bet you bought a tee shirt. You're a dumb ass too.

This quote is either TONGUE-IN-CHEEK, (I love how to try to attack intelligence, when you can neither spell or use the correct phrase, but... N is for NOWLEGE, right?)... which would mean your own AD doesn’t think Michigan or Ohio State take you very seriously and he’s well aware your team sucks... OR he seriously believes this.
Either way it’s bad.
Let’s be real, Nebraska gave up 54+ points to FOUR B1G schools last year (including MINNESOTA), and you lost most of your “best” players.
Purdue is closer to building a winner than Nebraska is.
Foolish comment, by you, and your AD.

Obviously, Michigan and Ohio State are getting a good laugh out of it.

The greater question is, how many threads about Nebraska are necessary per week on here?

Nebraska isn't even in the top half of the conference yet they are discussed at length on here. Why? If you want to obsess on a conference opponent, wouldn't it make more sense to focus on someone worth a shit?

I always come here to enhance my perusal of Nebraska related posts, and I am never disappointed.

There are so many insecure Nebraska fans lurking over here, it's like trolling the snowflake Nebby forum.

The nice part is that it's so convenient for us. We don't have to create fake accounts there to watch Nebby fans howl in protest.

This is an absurd quote from a B1G AD that is getting National attention, if you are upset about a fixation on a certain program, that is your problem.

He wants to loved by their delusional fan base. No matter how stupid it is the fusker fan base will love it. They have a hot garbage defense and a turnstile oline lmao.

He knows how to play to his base. He's old enough he will be gone in a year or 2. But that comment was so ridiculously over the top as to confirm all stereotypes opposing fan bases have about Nebraska. Only at Nebraska could they be coming off a 4-8 season and have the comments like Moos made.

I've said before, I think Frost is a good coach and he will make Nebraska better and I would be shocked if they don't win a division title in the next 3-5 years. He has united their fan base and administration in a way that hasn't happened since Osborne left. As awesome as Ohio State is, they have been to only 1 of the last 3 title games and Michigan hasn't ever played in a Big Ten title game. Some of that is due to the power in the East, but it demonstrates that it is hard to win.

If Frost is able to turn that defense into something beyond average this year, he will have proven something to me. That team just flat out gave up in numerous games last year, and that is hard to fix in one off-season.

I don't think Nebraska can ever be more than Iowa is right now. For the record, I'm also not sure Iowa can ever be more than Iowa is right now. By this I mean a perennial 7-5 / 8-4 type program, with the occasional 10-2 or 5-7 type years sprinkled in. Yeah, I know it was only 3 years ago Iowa went 12-0 so this is somewhat contradicting the above. It was also only 5 years ago that Iowa went 4-8 if I recall.

This is extremely accurate and realistic. Logical fans recognize what we are: average to above average at times, with a coach who is respected at the next level, and churns out a lot of quality NFL players. Not likely to change much anytime soon

Meh, playing to his base nothing more. Would I like if Barta did that? Absolutely not, but hardly a thing to get worked up about or honestly care about.

Hawk fans focussig on another school's AD is quite a common practice. I guess it means the other school's AD is obsessed with Iowa.

Ironic you should post when talking about obsession with Iowa. As for your last line how is Nebraska AD obsessed with Iowa? His quote does not not even mention anything close to it. Just shows he's an idiot for making that comment to play into his fan base but looks like a fool to everyone else in the Big 10. Now ISU's AD that's a different story....

As for the idiotic quote maybe Nebraska should first worry about beating Wisconsin, Iowa and Northwestern first in the West division before they focus on Ohio St.

It is a common deduction by hawk fans. It really doesn't matter what the AD tweeted because they must be obsessed with Iowa.

Hard to know the future. The past does inform us as to what might be likely. Iowa was literally a foot away from having an undefeated regular season, conference title in the new format and entry into the playoff. At pretty much every program in the West, the stars do have to align for something like that to happen. When you don't get elite-level talent (which demographics will dictate that no Big Ten West team will ever be in that category), the margin for error is slim.

The West does figure to be an interesting battle over the next 5 years. A best-case scenario can be created for each team that would have them in the title game.
  • Iowa - recruiting has ticked upward in the 3 years since the new facility opened. Team returns perhaps the best QB in the division for 2 more years.
  • Nebraska - new coach who brings real commitment to developing players and understands Nebraska's culture. He focuses on making Huskers at least competitive in the trenches and his new offense proves very good.
  • Illinois - Lovie has been recruiting well and even if Lovie gets canned the new coach is able to take that talent into something.
  • Wisconsin - continues to be Wisconsin.
  • Northwestern - new pracitce facility gives Wildcats a boost for new players they couldn't get before.
  • Purdue - Brohm can really coach and new facility bolstes recruiting.
  • Minnesota - Fleck finds a dynamic QB to run his offense.

DodgerHawki, I hear you. Anything is possible. I highly doubt Wisconsin fans expected to be one of the top 10 programs ANYWHERE in the last decade. Things can and do change... but like you said, demographics and what not make it hard for our region to consistently attract the best players.

I do think Frost will win some games if they give him time. There is no magic wand to wave and contrary to Nebr fans opinion, they do not have the best talent in the country held back by bad coaching. This year, Nebr could win 3-6 games. I'm going to guess 4. Next year 4-6. Year 3, 5-7, if he recruits the right people to his style of FB. Will they be patient with him or fire him, then and get a new coach with a completely different philosophy on O and D? Then start the whole thing over. This has been the MO for the past 2 decades.
