Much has been made of teams out there that are overrated (Alabama, Big 12 schools, Iowa)...but how about the most underrated team in the country? Nebby has an embarrasing record, but upon closer inspection, with a couple of bounces going their way, they could be 8-1. They lost on a hail mary to BYU, lost on a fluke by 3 to Miami, lost by 1 to Illinois, by 2 to Wisconsin (we could have easily lost by more to Wisc), and by 2 to Northwestern. That's some HORRIBLE luck, but it means they have the potential to knock off some of the Big 10 east powers, beginning with MSU. If MSU goes down, and they very possibly will, the Hawks will move up.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, then they gave up 55 to Purdue.

Possible? Sure, but they are just not very good.

MSU is not a team we want to move ahead of in the rankings, not yet. I wouldn't be too surprised though if Nebraska plays them close. The spread is only MSU -5.5 which seems pretty low so maybe Vegas sees a matchup they like, not sure.

Vegas is setting the line so the betting evens out. Yes the score COULD be close. How accurate do you think the Vegas line was for Neb vs Purdue? Or Iowa vs NU?

Vegas wasn't even close.

Sure, I get it. Nebraska is a few plays from being 8-1. But every other team in the nation could say the same thing.

As bad as Nebby is to date... If Armstrong plays they likely beat Purdue. Backup threw 4 picks, I believe. With that said, they might keep it close, but MSU will win. I want to see the crowd size and if the fans have thrown in the towel and subsequently, has team given up. It's shocking that they have no running game.

No. No, they are not.

Uhhh, no. Not every team has lost by an average margin of 2 points, most of which involved losing a lead in the 4th quarter. There's a reason a team with a losing record is only projected to lose by a few points to a top 7 team in the nation...and it's not because MSU is awesome. Neb is still the best team on our schedule, losing record or not.

Nope. The best team on our schedule was Wisconsin. Followed closely by Northwestern and Pitt.

3-6 neb is NOT the best team on our schedule. They are having their worst season in decades. Six losses before November is the first in their entire football history.

neb has lost 6 games by 23 points, closer to 4 point average margin. And the season isn't over yet. ;)

BTW, Vegas lines are NOT projections... How did the Vegas "projection" of the Neb Purdue game come out?

Remember, Iowa once lost 5 games by a total of 18 points... I doubt many thought that made us the best team on their schedule. ;) And being the best 7-5 team didn't count for much.

I thought this way too before the Purdue loss. Pretty sure the Husker defense had somewhere else they wanted to be

He clearly meant best team remaining. I hope you didn't spend a lot of time coming up with all that.

Uh... he CLEARLY said, and I quote:

"Neb is still the best team on our schedule, losing record or not."

Nope, no "Remaining". Re-read it yourself. That is your addition and interpretation of his intent. But, its nice to know that you know what he meant. I know what he said.

Thanks for worrying about how I spend my time. I have plenty this evening.

Fun fact gleaned from a Neb board....

The last time an unranked Nebraska team beat a team in the Top 10 is 1960. The Cornhuskers beat #4 Texas in Austin.

Huskers love to bring up their history. ;)

Did they mention they went 4-6 that year and finished lower than Iowa State in the Big 8? I think Nebraska's average win % was like 35% for 15 years heading into 1962.

That could be but that's only because the season didn't start until late September in the 50's and earlier. They were really bad before Devaney got there. Here's a sample 1-9 season.

Yeah, I thought the same thing about the season starting earlier. But it is still a pretty damn impressive stat.

Also, just because I should have said this before, I absolutely think Nebraska could beat MSU.

They couldn't block Purdues d line, how are they gonna handle Michigan state? And Purdue dropped 55 on Nebraska. Not all of that was on uncle Rico fyfe. Nebraska is bad. Least talented Nebraska football team in probably 4 decades. They're not being Michigan state.

Not even close.;)

I heard this is the FIRST TIME EVER they have entered November with 6 losses. They have been playing football for like 125 years.
Most of the years, it was a basically a 1 or 2 game schedule. The rest of the games were glorified scrimmages

Thanks for refuting my interpretation of his actual intent by reiterating the textual basis for it. Very entertaining.

Bad teams find ways to lose. Nebby is bad. No way they beat Sparty. MSU D line will be licking their chops this weekend.

I know if I were playing Nebraska, I wouldn't be comfortable relying on a hail mary, overtime, or a last minute drive to score a touchdown or a long field goal in order to win.

I look at this year's Nebraska team as the football version of the 2012/2013 version of Iowa basketball. That team missed the tournament, but had they gone better than 1-7 in games decided by less than 5 points, they would have been a tournament team. If they had won even half of those games, they probably would have been in the top 25.

Nebraska is not a great team, but they do have quite a bit of talent on their team. They could easily beat Michigan State, which I think would probably actually help Iowa in the end. It would boost our SOS because we likely won't be playing Michigan State. I just don't see MSU beating OSU on the road.

Those filthy mother fuskers should have never been in a fight with those teams to begin with. The BYU game very likely would have gotten more out of control had the QB not got hurt. Purdue beat them. Do not speak such evil on here again.
