A Nebraska v. Iowa game normally sounds like a slug fest with 3 yards and a cloud of dust. But looking at the stats, my money says this game comes down to passing.

Nebraska is #1 in the Big 10 in passing, believe it or not, averaging 273 yrds through the air per game.
Nebraska's QB has thrown twice as many touchdown passes this year as CJ (26 vs 13)
Nebraska has the second to last ranked pass defense in the Big 10, allowing over 300 yards per game.

Our pass d has looked very shaky of late, so look for their QB to throw often. Similarly, it sounds like Wadley and Daniels are a bit knicked up...so look for CJ to throw a lot against their pourous defense.

This could be a high scoring game!

I believe the Hawks will continue to run the game plan they have all season. they will pound pound and pound some more with the pass game to compliment the run game. Wadley and Daniels are fine.

Does it seem like lately CJ's long passes are off the mark? Some due to wind, I suppose, and when they were off when his injury was the worst, that was supposed to be the reason. Just wondering about what others think.

I agree we beat them if we have a good day passing,. We won't abandon the run by any means but I think attacking the edges and then CJ will hit his spots to capitalize on their weakness.

Its seems CJ and T Smith have had trouble hooking up on the long threat since that N Texas game. Not sure why but seems Smith has separated and they fail to connect. Hope we get one of those connections for a TD friday.

run, run, run, 1st down, run, run, 1st down, run, play action fake-TD.

I would agree if thats Wadley running but Nebby does better when they get to play with a shorter field. Nebby's Rush D is pretty solid and the pass D is better inside the red zone. Nebraska's Run D is actually ranked 6th in the league. By chooing to pound it we could end up keeping Nebraska right in the game.

Nebraska's Rush D would actually be the 3rd best we have faced all year. I think Beathard is going to need throw for over 250yds in this game. Remember Wisconsin had almost 500 total yds of O against nebby but could only muster 23pts.

Wouldnt be a bad game to stretch CJ's arm out a little too. Assuming we play MSU in the B1G Champ we will need to pass on them to beat them as well. Both teams are solid against the run but can be exposed in the air.

I heard one of the commentators say that with a groin injury those long throws are more difficult so I would imagine that is why he has been off on those.

Iowa will seek the 50/50 run/pass balance they have had all year. If we get down big early (my prediction) we will have to air it out to win (also my prediction). If we get up early (Debbie TOs) then we will go hard on the ground until Debbie sells out to stop it (like last year) then we go back to the air to win it (unlike last year).

Agree. More painful to plant like he wants to so he strong arms it to compensate and they've just been a bit off. It's pretty clear while he isn't 100% he is feeling better, so hopefully the touch on the deep ball will return.

And Wisky can't run the ball. Watch the Northwestern game. -26 yards rushing. The fact they put up these kind of yards against Nebraska is a good sign for us.

Nebraska leads the B1G in passing due to always playing from behind.

I have no doubt they will out-pass Iowa on Friday as well.

Iowa will out-score them.
