I believe Nebraska has their Jr Day this weekend. Keyshawn Johnson Jr. and McQuitty appear to attending, which are probably a couple big targets for the Huskers. Checking back to last year's recruiting, I was surprised to see Nebraska offered 46 WRs and got 0 commits! I've never been to Lincoln and really know nothing about their football complex. I'm looking for honest assessments of what Lincoln is like, and what their campus has to offer recruits. Please don't post if you're just an Iowa basher of Nebby...just curious what they have to offer compared to other Midwest schools like Iowa, Michigan, Ohio St. etc.

Hmmm...how to describe Nebraska Football. Well, the best I got is that it's kind of like the Wizard of Oz. You would think from seeing the Wizard and listening to all his munchkins, that it's this great and powerful program that rules all the college football land. Then you pull back the curtain and it's pretty much a second tier program in the Big Ten that lost to an awful Purdue program last year. I'm pretty sure the flying monkeys would beat Nebraska...think about how many picks they would get with Armstrong at QB.

Well, thanks for not blasting the Huskers. Since 500+ people passed on commenting on the topic, I will just say...a visit to Lincoln will not be on my Bucket list, now!

First, Nebraska signed two receivers for the 2016 class, although Grimm and Spielmann are listed as athletes they were recruited as WRs the entire time.

Facilities wise Nebraska has always kept up with the arms race. Said to be among the tops in the nation, personally I don't know anything about other schools facilities so I can't compare or rank them. Here's a couple articles, one ranks them 2nd in the B1G behind OSU and 1st in the other.

As for Memorial Stadium, it holds about 92k (4th largest in B1G). Has had several major upgrades the last 20-30 years. Giant score board, box suites on both end zones and one end zone, balconies, more video boards and sound systems. Rumored to be more expansion on the south endzone in the next 10 years.

I should have just posted this video. Really shows how nice the locker room and players lounge is.

A little gaudy (red!) for my tastes, but very impressive and pretty gorgeous. Good on you, Huskers. And thanks for the photos. I'm very happy with our facilities, and like all things Iowa, the not-quite-so-in your face, classy but powerful feel. Good neighbors. Go Hawks!

Very nice, Kyle 23! Thanks for the information and looks like an excellent facility to draw players to. I stand corrected on the two receivers, also. I'm a Hawkeye, but have to give credit, where credit is due. Nice photos!

The facilities in Lincoln are nice but memorial stadium is a shithole. I've been to most of the Big Ten stadiums and it's hands down the oldest, hardest to get around, and worst for facilities of any stadium in the conference. I thought the Rose Bowl, which is considered antiquated by many, was far nicer than Memorial Stadium and easier to get around.

Not sure how it's 'hands down the oldest.' Nebraska, Wisconsin, Iowa, OSU, Northwestern, MSU, Illinois and Purdue all have stadiums that broke ground in the 20s. Can't say I've ever had a problem getting around, granted, I grew up going there. Seems like every other stadium I've been too in terms of getting around.

Well you must have never been to Northwestern's Ryan Field. Hands down the worst in the Big 10 for almost everything. Sure there are HS Stadiums in Texas better than that dump.

The only way someone would NOT agree with what I said it's if they're a Nebraska fan and a homer for their home field. That stadium is not a fan friend environment to get around in and get to bathrooms and get to confessions etc. Not to mention it wasn't that long ago that a section collapsed and it still shakes like crazy. I've been to a number of games there, I don't mind going there because for the most part your fans are decent to sit around as an opposing fan, but the seats are a long ways from the fired especially compared to Kinnick, and I hate trying to get around that place. And God forbid you gotta use the restroom during the game. That's a nightmare. It's old and it's my least favorite stadium in the conference that I've been too.

I like Ryan Field exactly because it's lie a high school field. There's not a bad seat in that place to watch the game. I agree that it's an embarrassment to be a Big Ten stadium compared to EVERY other stadium in the conference, but I like the fact it's small and intimate. Plus we've never lost when I've been there!

Woah, look out...some major insecurity ITT.

It's no secret that OSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Penn State & Minnesota have the nicest stadiums in the conference, and for the most part, facilities as well.

Kinnick is nice, too....in a Wrigley field kind of way.

Lived in Omaha for 40 years and attended 15-20 games in Lincoln. Both the basketball and football facilities are very good and I am sure impress possible recruits. The stadium is old and has had multiple renovations which gives the appearance of a "hodgepodge" facility. The biggest problem is all fans must enter at the ground level and if you have a seat at the top, it is quite a hike, to the restrooms and concessions. Not like several Big 10 venues that you enter half way up the seating of the facility. I never thought much of Lincoln, and it would never compare as a college town to Iowa City. I think Iowa City would be a big recruiting tool when in contention for a recruit that is also considering Nebraska.

Original post was just to get an idea of Nebraska's facilities compared to others. A good video from both Iowa and Nebraska were shown. I would think most players would be pretty impressed by a tour of either one...I know I was!

Haha, well I can tell by the first sentence that you are one of those people that think their OPINIONS are facts. I guess the hawkeye fan three posts below yours that didn't agree with you is a Nebraska homer too. And yes, 23 years ago 8 rows collapsed (not an entire section) and not an isssue since. You are the first person I've heard complain about it shaking. You should try a game in Washington at Huskie stadium, **** that shaky place. If you find it that terrible I'm not sure why you go. As for the seats being too far from the field I suggest you buy better tickets. It holds 20,000 more people than Kinnick so yeah I guess some of the seats are far away, pretty typical for bigger stadiums.

Anyways, danny14 started this thread in regards to what recruits think, not your fan experience. KJJ and McQuitty don't have to worry about restrooms and concession lines. Recruits see the stadium and facilities and love it. I can guarantee no recruit has ever seen it as a 'shithole' like you.

Your nuts or off your rocker OR BOTH, if you think the seating at the Rose Bowl is better than Memorial stadium.
I've seen Nebraska PLAY in the Rose Bowl 4 times and sat in different spots and the Rose Bowl is the worst place to watch a football game but it is a great great environment. My Uncle told me the same thing many years ago I thought he was all wet before I seen Nebraska play UCLA back in 1984 that's when I found out what he was talking about.

Original post: Nebraska is expecting a huge weekend from players from California, Florida, Texas,Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas and including Mark Kallenberger from Bettendorf Iowa.

Some players may be committing after Junior Day,and expecting more recruits to visit during the Spring game April16.

I'm sitting in PBA currently, and always am very impressed by it.

Only issue is it lacks 'college charm', as it feels like Wells Fargo, or Century Link. It seems to cater more towards a concert feel.
Anyways, very nice and state of the art.

Memorial stadium is really nice, and to compare to Kinnick or other similar rivals rivals is just silly (UN, Iowa, Wisco, MSU in this class). Two completely different gameday feels.

Ive only been to Iowa games at memorial and it's been cold, so I would like to try a game in the thick of a B1G schedule to see what it's like amped up.
One pro: I got chills when I looked up at the North end on the exterior and saw Nat'l champs. Kind of cool aesthetically, and neat layout.

One con: Hodge podge, as someone mentioned, and doesn't carry a traditional B1G feel (can't fault that).

This reminds me of the old Sesame Street song; "one of these things is not like the others, see if you can guess which one?"

Try going to Texas A&M's stadium...good lord it takes forever to get to the top. Memorial Stadium is nothing to get to the top in comparison. Same with Texas' stadium on that one side with the HUGE facade. Nebraska's stadium...it takes maybe 5 minutes to get down to the concessions. NBD

As far as Nebraska, the facilities are nice and everything, but you can only get so state of the art. What are you gonna do, order in toilet paper with flakes of gold embedded in it? These recruits have it made and that's everywhere around the country these days.

Lincoln is a decent college town and football is a religion, so when looking at it through a recruits perspective...not nearly the same as your average Joe college student. Players live like kings.

Iowa City might be a "big recruiting tool" in comparison to Lincoln (highly doubtful because it isn't much, if better at all and Omaha is a quick trip and only 45 min away from Lincoln) but Nebraska has several advantages over Iowa that trump it. The biggest show in the state and > Iowa in everything from history & tradition to attendance to academic AA's to the ceiling of the program...pretty much everything.

It's why a 4* like Jaevon McQuitty just committed to Nebraska over an Iowa. Both schools have disadvantages in recruiting on the national level, but Iowa does well with their limitations IMO.

I was especially impressed by the quality tables and chairs in the meeting rooms at the Iowa facility. Nice!
The trophy case was especially awesome. Double nice!

Nebraska basketball and football are like polar opposites. Basketball has to go the new route because they are terrible in the in the tradition department. Its like looking at Minnesota's football stadium. I went there last year, and it is a very nice stadium, but it just isnt the same as an tradition rich stadium. Like comparing it to Allen Fieldhouse.

As for Memorial Stadium, I dont understand how anyone who is a fan of college football could not like it. The atmosphere is great, the location downtown is cool/unique, and the facility as a whole is pretty cool. As you stated, looking at the facade, you can see how it could be intimidating and awe inspiring to look out, (particularly for recruits). Ive been to Michigan, and it was a cool stadium, but standing on the outside of Michigan stadium is not the same as standing outside of Memorial.

The only negatives i could see would maybe the size of seats as it is bench seating, but that is hardly a big deal. The North and South Endzones can get cramped, but thats typically only getting in and out of the stadium. Tailgating probably isnt as huge in Lincoln, but it is a downtown stadium which makes it better IMO. You can still tailgate, but you can also go to the bars downtown, or the North Bottoms for house parties. Tailgating is cool and all, but the variety of downtown add in Lincoln is much better than places ive been where it is basically just a huge lot around the stadium. ISU, KSU, MU, etc.

The best part is the atmosphere. The fanbase is pretty highbrow when we play crap teams, but the place gets electric during a big home game, especially at night.

The Nebraska pics kinda reminded me of when the Kenny Rogers chicken joint opened up outside of Kramer's apartment ............

It appears that Memorial Stadium in Lincoln has more seats in the end zones than on the side lines. What kind of goofy seating arrangement is that!
