Nebraska - Ohio State

Ol' Fred isn't winning at Nebraska. Something about that place is a death trap for basketball coaches.

This is what can happen when you assemble a team stocked with prima donna transfers - right now it looks like 3 or more individual players on the floor at any given time showing off what they can do. Allen is a shoot first ball hog. Webster transferred from W. Illinois to show he can score in the B10 too. McGowens wants to prove he is the best player on the floor every game. Team chemistry looks awful and losing accelerates the problem. They fell apart when OSU went up double digits.

Nebraska's guards can score, no doubt. I mean Allen or McGowens can string together baskets in no time but they tend to be streaky. Their weakness is inside where their defenders are soft and foul prone. Garza should have a big night vs. Nebraska. Fran will make sure that Luka is fed often - no way they hold him under 20.....30 or more if he gets his usual minutes and maintains his shooting averages....... 40 if he is connecting on 3s. Just stay out of foul trouble.

hoiberg should have recruited his son to play at Nebraska instead of having him walk on to sit for Izzo. Nebraska is bad enough that Lil' Hoi could get some PT.

I wouldn't write off Hoiberg at Nebraska, but times have changed. The players he was getting as transfers that no one else would touch are now being welcomed with open arms by most programs.

Give them time,.. Hoiberg is familiar with the process of collecting and assembling misfits into a team,.. He's had success in the past and he'll do it again, given time.

Have you seen Hoiberg’s son play? He is NOT a D1 basketball player. As bad as Nebraska is he could not help the Huskers. I guess maybe you were just joking. What I do hear is that his son’s are unbelievable golfers. PGA talents.

Fred will get plenty of time to turn things around but 20 straight conference losses (and counting) is horrendous .... not sure if Northwestern basketball ever reached that level of bad. There is no guarantee that Hoiberg's ISU transfer strategy will work at football-first Nebraska, and especially with the advent of the transfer portal and new eligibility rules. Its no sure thing that Hoiberg will do it again and there is still value to having a higher degree of roster stability.

Nebraska is no longer a football-first school,.. If Fred can get things moving in the right direction Husker fans will follow...

The people on their board were looking forward to volleyball starting soon. Its gotten pretty bleak over there!! Last time Hoiberg had a winning season was 2015 with the Bulls where they were 42-40. I doubt he turns anything around.

Doesn't Fred have a 5* Center coming in next year? The fans will give him the benefit of the doubt if he continues to beat Iowa.

Take it to the bank....The Mayor will be run out of town at the end of the year

lol

Doubt it but they are, indeed, a truly bad team in a league chock full of good to great ones. I can’t find many (any?) wins on their remaining schedule.

Should be an utterly disastrous year for them. and you know what....? I’m ok with that. :D

Given this thread, we have now basically guaranteed that some yutz on their team is going to go all Lafester on us.
