With Riley presumably gone before next season that means Nebraska will be paying not one, not two, but three football HC’s in 2018. They are paying Bo Pelini through February of 2019 and they’ll be paying Mike Riley through 2021ish, plus their new HC.

The new AD has to fire Riley since the prior one got fired due to Riley. No way can one come in and stand behind Riley.

And its still probably less then Iowa pays one head coach.

Get a life, douche. You know thats not true at all, so you just come here to flame, and leave the scorched earth behind. Pelini alone was probably making almost as much as KF. No matter what their paying Riley, is probably too much,(since he's never done anything) to warrent a big contract. I suppose your going to get your next savior and pay him $8.50 an hour or something?

Nebraska pays Pelini $1,536,108 annually.
Nebraska will pay Riley $2,040,000 annually once he is fired. That is the amount prior to his recent extension, it may have gone up a little bit.

Kirk Ferentz makes $4.5M. Pelini+Riley will be $3.6M, plus whatever the new coach's salary will be, which will be a minimum of $3M, probably $4M plus.

So, in 2018, Iowa will pay Kirk $4.5M, while Nebraska will pay the 3 head coaches somewhere around $7.6M. If Diaco is fired, there is another $875,000 you'll be paying a ghost. The DC may also be getting paid to not coach.

Wow! touchy subject I though my reply to a stupid post was rather funny. Won't bring K's salary up again, too much heartburn in Hissey land. The burn will probably be white hot after the ILL. game.

Were way past worrying about what KF gets paid. Besides he's not even in the top three in our own conference now, so its a moot point. It just shows how far Nebraska has fallen, that your best retort is "yea but you guys pay your coach more". Jees, what happened to the glory days.......

I have no problems with Kirk's salary. He has put a consistent winner on the field and represented the university well.

Over the last 15+ years, Nebraska has won a similar number of games, while having an embarrassment leading your program. Without any of the highlights that Kirk has (top 10 finishes, major bowls). You've probably paid more money to your football coaches, to result in less on-field results and lower athletic department revenues. How do you like that ROI?

For some reason I doubt Riley goes for next year unless this season really goes into the dumpster ablaze.

That's one of the issues when you start turning over coaches....
We should join that group because we want to win national titles and bringing in new coaches who recruit and coach up 5 star athletes is the way to do it.................but we should also pay them less than $2.6 million per year until they win a title at Iowa because that matters......unless of course it's a really big name coach. Then its okay to pay them much more because they'll be expected to put Iowa on the map immediately...........because that matters.

And the hurt keeps creeping out. So this is what 0-2 in the conference feels like. Wouldn't know.

Yes, 0-2 against PSU on a last second loss which I'm sure PSU will put a beatdown on your skirts for polling purposes and at MSU which was an ugly loss but not a bad loss.

But hey, congrats on losing to NIU, beating Rutgers and Illini while gaining less than 300 yards in all three games. You guys are a juggernaut! LoL. Reality starts this weekend and will continue till Iowa puts another beatdown on you rubs.

Concerning Kirk's pay, it's not too bad considering he has won B1G two titles, been in two BCS games w/ one win, and an undefeated regular season in 15. I'll take that over 17 years of futility by your club. Good luck though man, you will find your coach in the next 20 or 30 years. Love having Nebraska in the league for a good laugh.

With openings at LSU, Ucla, Ark, Ta&m, Az, Asu, Tn, and a couple more Frost could ask for $10 million and probably get it.

I have a question. Do you guys think that N.Legend ever posts on the Husker board? Or is he just on here 24/7?

Riley wont be fired this year unless the team quits on him and implodes, which is a possibility, but not probable. The administration, in particular Hand Bounds, knew it was going to be a multi-year clean-up of Pelini's mess. We have 3 offered scholarship seniors (i.e. non walk-ons) on our entire roster currently contributing - the lowest by far in Power 5. Because of this (and other factors) Riley will likely get until the end of 2018 to turn it around.

As debate goes this is plagiarism about 105 from past posts on this board over the years. Nice response. That really set me in my place.

I apologize. I didn't realize you are an "adult" and live in you sisters basement.

Just here 24/7. Doesn't know anything about football either. Just trolls.

Or we can just win out :D....... I have no idea what will happen at the end of the year, but Frost looks good

To lazy to look but I bet the new DC probably makes way more money than any coach on the Iowa staff besides KF

I hate to say it, but we already know what that feels like.
Oh I know that ... My point being we lost to the best team in the conference (PSU) and lost to an improving MSU team on its home field ... Nebraska sucks this year ... so not sure how any of their "fans" could talk smack ... and honestly, wonder why they would even be hanging on an Iowa board.

Nebraska has only lost because the officials sucked and the B1G and their officials are out to get them.

lol...uh, no.

Would be hilarious if that were to happen.

I'm not sure they get rid of mediocre mike yet, though. Short of a complete implosion, i.e. going 0 for the rest of the schedule, I can see them waiting to get the new permanent AD in place.

They’ll have a new AD before next season and there isn’t an AD out there that would come in and stand behind Riley (maybe Natural, but only if he thought he was cute). Riley got the last AD fired, no other sport even contributed to his firing.
